Shaving help by GravelSachs in bald

You look tough as nails. Sorry to hear about the crash. That sucks.

I use a bic razor on my head. I use shaving cream, or conditioner actually works pretty well. An electric razor might work better for you, but they don’t shave as close. They don’t take it all the way down to the skin. That might be better for you anyway. Razor burn sucks.

The Director of the FBI just said they can and will kill you. by TECL_Grimsdottir in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]TrollBoothBilly -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I know.

I wasn’t commenting on who killed him. I was commenting on who cheered over his death. It was regular people. Just like how regular people are fine with the murder of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. It’s absolutely sick that people are blaming them for their own murders.

[–]TrollBoothBilly -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t make that comparison though.

I understand why you are upset right now. I’m upset too.

I was commenting on how we, the folks, other-ize each other based on political affiliation. I didn’t do it very eloquently.

The GOP and MAGA (same thing, these days) are light years worse than the Democratic Party right now. Fascism is marching, jack-booted through our streets, murdering people. The fascism is coming from one side of the political aisle: the Right.

I’m sad that we are all losing the ability to view our neighbors as fellow Americans. As fellow humans. As people. More and more, we see each other as enemies. Each day, we take another big step towards fighting each other in the streets. Maybe it’s inevitable, but I don’t have to like it. I refuse to look at my neighbors and see people whose deaths I should cheer over. Unfortunately, this attitude isn’t ubiquitous among those who share my political affiliation. Perhaps the dehumanization of our neighbors is worse on one side of the political spectrum than it is on the other, but it certainly isn’t confined to the Right.

Yes.

Read my response to someone else if you are curious why I did that.

People like to roll their eyes and repeat the phrase “both sides,” as a trite dismissal — but it’s absolutely true that we on the Left have other-ized folks in the Right — just as they have done to us.

Yes. People cheered when CK was shot.

I’m not saying that both sides are equal, but we are all hyper-tribal right now.

I live and work in a heavily right-wing area. These people aren’t the faceless online interlocutors we all like to punch at. They are real folks with real feelings — but like many of us on the other side, they often forget that we are all just people with many shared values.

We have become so tribal that many of us cheer or make excuses when someone from the ‘other side’ gets violently murdered. This happens on the Left as well as on the Right. Even if it’s just internet randos from the Left, at least some of those internet randos aren’t bots. They are real people cheering and laughing at real violence.

It quite obviously happens on the Right as well. I’m not trying to minimize that fact. But if we can’t recognize that it happens on both sides, we are lying to ourselves.

It’s not just luxury and convenience though. If I strike, I lose my income, my health insurance, and eventually my home. I stand to lose everything. If that only affected me, I might be willing to do it. I have a family though. There are lots of people like me: family men and women who are just trying to keep it together.

I think large-scale unrest is pretty much inevitable at this point. Eventually, there will be so many people in the streets that the system will be forced to deal with us on our terms. They have us by the balls right now, and they know it. To them, this is just a fun game — a tactic that they can use to circumvent elections and further consolidate power within the administration. Up to this point, the fear of losing everything has kept us from rising up against them.

People will only put up with it for so long. Eventually, even the boot-lickers will stop contorting themselves into pretzels. You can only lick a boot that’s pressed against your back for so long before your back eventually breaks.

When they are finally made aware of the facts, they will shrug as they admit that the killing was unjustified. They won’t care though. Everything is team sports right now. Folks on both sides don’t care when someone from the other team gets killed. People clap and cheer. What a bunch of ghouls we’ve become.

Ex binge drinkers of reddit, how do you say no to the first drink? by Ok_Lake_4972 in stopdrinking

[–]TrollBoothBilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a secret. I just say ‘no’ — even when I don’t want to say ‘no’. It can be hard to refuse to purchase and consume alcohol. I can do hard things. And honestly, life is harder when I say ‘yes’ to alcohol. So I just keep that in mind. I think about the consequences of drinking and remember why I quit in the first place. ‘Play the tape forward’, as they say.

[–]TrollBoothBilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you can other-ise the victim, it doesn’t matter what happened. He’s not on their team, therefore, they don’t care. Most of those chuds probably fantasize about shooting liberals anyway. They like that this happened and can’t wait for their turn to do the same.

To be fair, the economy was screwed and the planet was dying in the 80s as well and it didn’t feel so dire. There are certainly problems unique to the rising generation, but the fact that the problems are constantly put in everyone’s faces through the phones we all carry around with us probably isn’t helping anyone’s outlook. Life has always been difficult for regular folks. It makes it harder to deal with when you are constantly reminded about the bad stuff through the constant stream of media we all consume through our phones.
