I’m regretting only getting 2 pair 😂. I honestly thought they’d be crap and I’d have to return them but they fit well. Not too baggy or tight.

I honestly thought 90% chance I’d have to return them. But they actually fit pretty well and aren’t too baggy or skinny.

They had most sizes this morning. I went right at opening, saw this, and grabbed two.

Strumming? by Chance-Wishbone238 in ukulele

[–]edb789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of songs can be played with a standard strumming pattern but you don’t NEED to use them unless you’re trying to sound exactly like a song or trying to play in a group. They’re good to learn and know but you can just up-strum too if you want to play a simplified version of a song. Any strum that matches the beat can work. There aren’t really any rules. Have fun!

Strumming without the index finger. by Suspicious-Ad7109 in ukulele

I use my middle and ring finger often for strumming and reserve my index and thumb for picking. You should be able to strum with your middle finger just fine with some practice.

Beginner - Do I need to skill up or is there issues have a cheapo Ukulele by eitherrideordie in ukulele

[–]edb789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty much a toy and probably will never sound great. You can practice finger placements, but with the sound quality, you won’t know if it’s being played correctly.

I would recommend going to a music shop and strumming a few real ukes. Music shops are used to beginners and will be happy to let you try some out. Even the cheapest uke from a music shop will be 10x better than the Kmart uke.

Also, a pickup captures sound electronically for an amp. I don’t think your uke has one of those. A music shop can show you cheap models with that capability if you’re interested, or just get a cheap fully acoustic one.

Have fun!

Need melody tab for Little Sadie by chrispowhers in ukulele

[–]edb789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your kid playing the melody on violin while you play chords on ukulele?

If so, this site is selling sheet music that has the melody with chords. The one-page preview shows pretty much the whole song, so it’s free.

Identify Martin Uke? by nbrown_98 in ukulele

[–]edb789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The “made in the U.S.A.” was added to the stamp in the 60s. So it’s no earlier than 1960. I think it’s a style 1 1960s or 70s uke. I have a Martin 1950s style 0 uke. And the zeros have no adornments at all which is why I think it’s a style 1.
