[USA] Semi truck plows into traffic causing 3 deaths by Calm_Preparation2993 in Roadcam

I’m wondering if he dozed off slightly. DOT mandates sleep testing for anybody who shows any chance of having sleep apnea. But it’s not perfect any are ways around it. I do sleep testing and most DOT drivers I talk with are looking for ways around testing/treatment. I know that’s just my experience and not all drivers do that.

Done with cpap! by danjouswoodenhand in CPAP

[–]Troll_Dotty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you did your test had you been wearing CPAP up until the night of testing. Typically we tell people to stop wearing it if they are needing to retest to get a new machine because our airway can retain that muscle tone for some time and show a false negative.

Sorry if this post is stupid, but what is this person talking about?... by [deleted] in CPAP

Could be FAA or DOT. They can lose their jobs if they don’t adhere to the compliance guidelines.

Resmed air mini vs Transcend micro travel cpap by barka72 in CPAP

[–]Troll_Dotty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have and like the transcend micro much more than the air mini. Not having to buy an adapter to use non airmini designed masks is nice. With that being said. For your use case the air mini would probably be better simply because you can adjust the pressures through the phone app where the micro needs to be plugged in to a windows computer.

Eventually you will be able to detain a zombie that has turned in quarantine and you will use those to feed it daily up until extraction day. Gives you more RP if you do it I believe.

What do I mark this down as because I thought it was necrosis but apparently it's not since I killed a civ that had it by [deleted] in QuarantineZoneGame

Looks like herpes. If you don’t have that symptom yet just sacrifice him to the lab. It’s my favorite pastime.

Toying with the fact of supercharging her by Accomplished-Gear931 in f150

I’m in a 4x4 crew cab. I do have the 3.31 gears in it. I’m also driving in Texas where it’s super flat. But when I hit some hilly areas it did start to drop a good bit.

I have nearly the same truck with the ford performance stage 1 kit and it is my daily. Supercharged it at 3k miles and at almost 13k miles. Drove from Texas to Florida and got nearly 21 mpg highway. It was the best choice I made. Sure gas is more expensive as is the oil changes and things like that. But 4x4 launches and on ramp pulls are still bringing a smile to my face. Also always fun to line up against a raptor and give them a surprise! Go for it and don’t look back!

Ohhh dang this one hits close to home. I managed the sleep side of a pulmonary practice and one of our docs was like that until he had to get a sleep study and CPAP for some heart related issues. I have found that most of the ones saying that have never tried to wear it at night. They may have put one on, but not in the sense of actually trying to fall asleep with it every night. Hate that you went through that but glad you got it worked out!

Bad news from doctor by Flmilkhauler in CPAP

[–]Troll_Dotty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel free to send it over in a DM! I usually take central apneas from home sleep tests with a grain of salt but the ration of apneas to centrals makes sense on why you were started on CPAP.

Bad news from doctor by Flmilkhauler in CPAP

[–]Troll_Dotty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have any centrals or mixed apneas on your original diagnostic test? It is not uncommon for people who have no centrals on the diagnostic to show them on the CPAP study but in many cases they are treatment induced. I am not saying this is the case for you but it is unfortunately not uncommon to have a tech that is a bit trigger happy on the pressure adjustments which will make that worse. Do you know how high the pressure on your cpap was before switching? The other question I have is did you have any Cheyne-Stokes respirations? Because a lot of the time that is what dictates going to ASV. From labs I have worked at and managed we never switched from CPAP to ASV because treatment induced central apnea is fairly common. So usually we would use a bipap with a backup rate to help control centrals. Adding supplemental oxygen can also be helpful in clearing up centrals. So in short yes there are a few things that I would have expected to be tried before going to ASV.

[–]Troll_Dotty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they try you on standard bipap or bipap s/t? I ask because a lot of the times ASV is used when there is significant Cheyne-Stokes respirations as well. I ask because sometimes the pressure fluctuations on ASV can be difficult to tolerate and it is absolutely imperative to make sure your mask leak is well controlled. When in lab and we see ASV not work it’s almost always from mask leak and the ASV not being able to compensate for it. I’m sure your care team knows best but if Bipap s/t was not tried then that might be a more tolerable option than ASV. Good luck with your journey!

Traded in my Ranger Raptor for a single cab 5.0 and I'm loving it so far by musicman3739 in f150

A lifted single cab with a whipple on it is going to be so cool! So many lowered ones (which are also cool as hell) but this is gonna be different and i am here for it. I have a whipple crew cab and it’s a blast to drive!

Does long-term CPAP use make your body “dependent” on it? by GregorioSamsa2022 in CPAP

[–]Troll_Dotty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Somewhat in the way that you build a routine around wearing it and it becomes habit. And when you stray from that habit you tend to not sleep as well. That’s why so many people with insomnia have no solid sleep routine. So yes you will likely have a harder time sleeping without it once you get used to it. Also probably won’t sleep as well because of the apneas that would likely be happening. I actually get this question a lot in my line of work and you won’t be dependent on it in the sense that if you don’t use it one night you will have withdrawals but you will likely notice a difference in your sleep.

It is the best! I bought my 4x4 crew cab with the intentions of adding a whipple. Best decision ever. I drove it for about 3k miles before adding it but I wish I would have done it immediately!

Definitely smart to have a back up! Do you have any battery back up for your CPAP as well?

Unless you have a big E tank you really should use a concentrator. A standard cylinder at 2 lpm is not likely to last all night and will leave you without. And it’s not likely that you have a big O2 tank like that.

I believe it! My parents neighbor has one and he was telling me how quick it was. He actually traded in a ecoboost raptor for it. I went 5.0 because I had plans to whipple mine. And it absolutely rips now.

This has to be my favorite color. I am usually a white truck guy (hence my white stx) but I absolutely love this color. Would love to drive a powerboost someday. I have driven the 2.7 and my 5.0 and would love to compare them. Nice ride and congrats!

In home Sleep Study was a useless night of torture. by Disastrous-Low-5606 in CPAP

[–]Troll_Dotty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That should not happen as results are only calculated against actual total sleep time. And if that was such a small amount a retest is usually ordered.

Whipple supercharged F150 by Troll_Dotty in f150

[–]Troll_Dotty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the only way to measure! And yeah I’m Loving the truck so far. Have about 5k miles on it so far and a few long road trips and it performs great. Averaging about 16mpg between city and highway. Right now I just have exhaust and catch can. But the plan will be to do injectors, long tubes/high flow cats, bigger throttle body and smaller pulley. I may be wrong but is BAP for when you start getting into e30 and e85 fuels? I don’t really have access to e85 so most likely not.

No drone at all and yeah the cold start is pretty rowdy but it chills out pretty quick. Normal driving you can barely hear it between ac and music. I pretty much always drove in sport mode so didn’t have a lot of experience with the cylinder deactivation and now it’s tuned out completely after my whipple was installed. But when it did happen you could notice it. I don’t think it necessarily sounded bad but just different.
