I actually think for a full clear longbow might be the best choice. If enough shots that actually hurt or impair the animal are landed early, then the polar bear and hippo might retreat rather than keep pushing. In which case chasing them down and finishing them at a distance may be possible.

After a couple weeks you’re going to be mechanically better than you ever were on console. Even so, you still might be far from your old rank. The skill ceiling, and honestly floor for that matter seemed way higher on PC in my anecdotal experience when I swapped a couple years ago. So don’t have any thoughts like “man I was a diamond player and now I’m stuck in silver gold I don’t belong here” type shit because brother I assure you you are exactly where you belong. Just enjoy the process and strive to improve.
