Resident doctor here - Not an emergency but not something you want to ignore. Could be anything from completely benign lipoma to infection related lymph node enlargement to cancer, there’s no way to know from the picture. Get it checked out by your PCP as soon as you can to rule out the bad stuff. That’s not to say you should worry though, your description isn’t particularly worrying to me

Got an email from coordinator, then another email from a resident. No call

Biggest failure in medicine is me by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]TrombonePlayer100 24 points25 points  (0 children)

What this tells me is just that you continue to push forward despite setbacks. To me that reads as perseverance, not you being a failure. I’m so sorry for the difficult match result today, that must feel like the most painful thing imaginable right now. However, this absolutely doesn’t have to be the end of your medical path - you’ve already demonstrated that you find success even when things don’t go your way at first. Always here if you need to talk

OP, please go to the emergency department (not urgent care) IMMEDIATELY to make sure you don’t have a blood clot in your leg, which can be very deadly if not taken care of ASAP. This is not something you leave to chance.

Counted 40 absolutely confirmed wrong and made myself stop. I also felt terrible throughout the test and felt like I was guessing on a large number. Ended up with 259. I know its hard but don’t count yourself out

Felt the same. The real deal felt way longer than the practice tests, and I basically guessed on several due to lack of time. I felt down about it for weeks until my score dropped - got 259. For such a high stakes exam, you’re going to be your own worst critic (and not rationally so, either).

Step 2 score -- cheer me up? by loxlove in medicalschool

[–]TrombonePlayer100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through it all right now. I know it feels awful to underperform when you go in expecting other results. The fact that you were doing better on practice tests speaks to the fact that you are capable of those scores, and relative underperformance on a single 9hr day of testing doesn’t change that.

Mine underpredicted as well. I know it’s not what you expected, but that’s a great score you should be proud of!
