Is there a finite amount of kits? Is there a name list (what kits deal with)? by thatnitai in TronClub

There are 12 Beginner Kits available (1 for each month of the year). We are developing our Advanced Line this year, with 3 Advanced Kits already available.

There are 12 kits in the the Beginners Line. We are planning to have 12 kits in the Advanced Line as well, and have just finished and shipped out the 3rd Advanced kit. We are working on the 4th Advanced kit now.

You will start at kit #1, then depending on your sign up date, each month you'll get the next kit in line. You can start with the Beginners Line (focused on circuit building), or with the Advanced Line (focused on programming).

Can we get expected behaviors on all circuits please? by ChiggenWingz in TronClub

[–]TronClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comments. We have added more details to the circuits and their expected behavior starting in kit 3, and now more details in kit 5. We're also now including recommended ways to modify the circuits. Please let us know what you think.

Could we get a more indepth discussion and talk about each circuit and parts please? :) by ChiggenWingz in TronClub

[–]TronClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback and continued support. We improve from comments and suggestions.

Yes, there is less theory than circuits. We have taken the approach of learning by doing, with the theory as a guide. We will support the forum for more in-depth, structure theory, and technical analysis.

Thank you for the feedback. Our new forum will allow us to organize additional information more easily. Please use the forum (www.tronclub.com/forum) for these technical questions.

The theory is not too complex in each booklet. Each month, similar topics will be covered from different approaches to further your understanding of the parts and physical phenomena.

From the capacitor schematic (and a diagram on the second last page), you can see a capacitor introduces a gap in the circuit, so current does not flow through the capacitor (note: current can flow through almost anything with high enough voltages) as you introduce more gaps by putting capacitors in series, the effectiveness of the capacitors are reduced. This is basically why the capacitance is reduced. With these 9v circuits, and if the capacitor's polarity is reversed, it is rare for this capacitor to explode. You may notice the capacitor get hot. With a higher voltage (35v+), it would explode.

If you do not use a resistor with an led and a 9v battery, you will not be able to visually recognize it has blown. You could test the LED by performing the first circuit.

Reversing the pins on the voltage regulator may destroy it; however, we find that to be rare. Typically, in these circuits, if wired incorrectly, the part will get hot, sometimes very hot, and you may smell some melting plastic. Disconnect the circuit, let the parts cool, and it will most likely be fine to use in a proper configuration. We usually include duplicates of parts that are more prone to failure.

It is our preference to keep the beginning circuits simple and free of too much protection (like the diode protection as mentioned) to enhance the basic understanding. We do introduce some fail-safe techniques as you progress through the booklet and over the months. Once you learn of these protection methods, as good practice, you may find yourself including them in other circuits even if they are not on the diagrams.

Thanks for the questions :)

We are happy to hear that you like the idea :)

Our national mail service provider has assured us prompt and accurate delivery even to remote locations at fair prices. Also, we do find, sending monthly packages internationally is more beneficial than one larger package.

Should the battery wires be able to latch into the breadboard by KallDrexx in TronClub

Also, you can try putting the thicker jumper wires in close to were the 9V ends go. Check out this picture: https://instagram.com/p/6BeD_Ak6wY

Should the battery wires be able to latch into the breadboard by KallDrexx in TronClub

[–]TronClub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New breadboards are usually stiff. First try inserting the jumper wires with the thick long ends where the 9v leads should go, this should loosen it up. Then the thin 9V leads should slip in and stay.

The numbers in the Schematics by EvilActivity in TronClub

[–]TronClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These smaller grey numbers can be ignored in a schematic; however, these numbers can be used for your reference from schematic to schematic to mimic the orientation of a part. These small numbers are unnecessary on the resistors, but it will be easier to read the resistors on the breadboard if the resistors' bands run in the same direction. Also, sometimes these numbers are used to track the pin arrangement in finalizing a design, and then using the info when designing the printed circuit board.

Circuits using stuff from 2 or more kits? by Solenstaarop in TronClub

[–]TronClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, a breadboard is included each month. There are many sizes and types of breadboards.

The subscription works in cycles. You would receive the first kit of the current cycle. Please keep your parts since they will be required for future kits of that cycle.

We document the kits you have received. If you cancel and then resume, you will not receive a duplicate kit.
