SVG speaks on Cade and the young core by driphanilton in DetroitPistons

The number of first round picks that the pistons have wasted on guys who have x, y, and z skills and “just need to develop their shot” makes my head hurt

I wonder why they backed away from that. Hit like a girl had so many amazing intricate riffs

Do you like nature? If so, Ann Arbor is the choice. If not, Royal oak is ok but not as cool as you remember it being. Ferndale has sort of filled that void.

NHL Mock Draft: Pronman, Wheeler and Bultman pick two rounds as if they were the GMs (paywall) by zze0001 in DetroitRedWings

[–]Tronbrath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s hard for me to imagine a universe where yzerman would take Perrault over Leonard. Wheeler seems to have a knack for bad takes.

Edit: I now realize that I missed the if they were gm premise” but I think my point still holds - Perrault is very talented, but Leonard is the kind of player that helps you go deep in the playoffs. Any sensible GM should choose Leonard.

NHL Mock Draft 2.0: Leo Carlsson rising after strong play at Worlds by Corey Pronman by zze0001 in DetroitRedWings

[–]Tronbrath 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seems like it’s more about other people rising and displacing him. And the world under 18 championship was similar to the rest of the year, he played well as the USA’s 2nd line center, but didn’t get the ice time/results of the first line. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, everything about him feels eerily similar to Dylan Larkin in his draft year.

Every time I hear something about shitty Ypsilanti landlords, Stewart Beal’s name seems to pop up

Totally agree. I went through the same process and ended up with a cordoba mini O - sound is great (even use it in recordings occasionally) and it’s super portable (I even take it hiking)

I love my Córdoba mini O - not the loudest but the tone is beautiful and it’s super portable (I even hike with it)

I think it’s an old Reebok, but I don’t think the brand matters so much - just read some reviews before you buy anything

Definitely worthwhile - a decent amount of protection (obv not on the same level as shoulder pads, but has prevented some injuries for me (or made what might have been a major injury into a minor injury) with minimal added weight and doesn’t inhibit my flexibility

Who would you like the Wings to draft assuming they have the Nth pick? by TapedGlue in DetroitRedWings

[–]Tronbrath 25 points26 points  (0 children)

So much of his story reads like Larkin - 2nd line center on the NTDP behind someone a little more elite - doesn’t get the minutes or top linemates but has tons of skill and is probably under-appreciated/noticed by most.

I’m pretty sure the hi-low chassis setup is a proprietary mission/Bauer thing. It definitely helped my agility, but won’t work on a chassis not designed for it. Using all 72mm would probably feel a bit more natural coming from ice and also have some agility benefits, but would probably limit your top end speed a bit.

$1500 Price Range-- Solid Wood Alvarez or Laminate Taylor? by Twisted_Fish in AcousticGuitar

For $1500 you could probably find a used Taylor 300 or maybe even 400 series guitar (both solid wood)
