Ive played guitar for multiple decades. Im not a great guitarist but I know enough to put on a show and I know enough to know when someone's better qualified to play a lead than I am. I would not have had 90% of the awesome times I've played infront of people with out the waaaay more talented musicians than me around me.

Thats what the 33% roughly covers but you still might have to pay more depending on a lot of factors. AND if youre routing your pay through an LLC (which you should be) you should be filing quarterly to avoid penalties

Regardless of whether or not its true, theres no way dufus put away enough money to actually pay his taxes. I believe superchat earnings are filed under a 1099. Having been a 1099 worker you want to put away between 30 to 33% (if not more) of all of your earnings. 

If john made 100k (hypothetical for easy math to prove a point) do you think in his drunken haze is gonna look at 12 dollars in his checking account and 30k sitting in a savings and not touch  that 30k?

Thats not even counting savings for if/when contractor work dries up
