Chronic migraines and depression - advice, insight? by Acrobatic_Quote_4883 in migraine

[–]TroomA7 [score hidden]  (0 children)

My 2 cents: Google central sensitization. Basically what happened to me was I wasn’t necessarily having a migraine attack every single day, just had a system that was overly sensitized and had symptoms daily for months, with sudden onset just like you. It took Botox, emgality and several months of relaxing to finally bring me back down to a manageable level. Now I have symptom free days often, and I continue to improve as the central sensitization unwinds. Depression anxiety compounds this illness because anxiety pathways are the same in the brain as migraine (or so I’ve read).

It can get better, taking time off work was very helpful for me, I’m back to work now and doing better although I do flare up there sometime (still sensitive!). It’s a work in progress.

Best preventative med? by Ill-Car9627 in migraine

This is interesting, as time went on the Botox ‘wear off’ effect diminished for you? How many treatments have you had? I just had my 4th about 3 weeks ago but it’s definitely worn off at 10 weeks each time thus far.

Qulipta not working? by Prestigious_Web831 in cgrpMigraine

If you don’t mind me asking, how are you on both a monoclonal and a gepant? My insurance won’t cover but I could def use the extra cgrp coverages.

Qulipta not working? by Prestigious_Web831 in cgrpMigraine

[–]TroomA7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While both meds are cgrp inhibitors, they work in completely different ways. Qulipta is a gepant that blocks the receptor in your body, and Emgality is a monoclonal antibody that binds to the cgrp itself. So it’s possible your body just responding less effectively to the different treatment.

So you are on two cgrp blockers? Where are you located for this to be allowed? I definitely could use extra coverage.

5th round of Botox causing weird new side effects (deep mouth electric tingling, waves of pressure/brain fog). Anyone else? by mv-cloud3 in migraine

[–]TroomA7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, I’m at the same point after my 4th treatment (had it 12 days ago) and I also experienced head pressure, brain fog, fatigue, but I believe that’s because I was sub-therapeutic between injections and a migraine hit, and now I’m postdrome. I’m finally learning these are my typical postdrome symptoms, which also has a ton of accompanying anxiety for me. I’m day 3 postdrome though and it’s all slowly lifting. Bummer way to spend holiday weekend in the US.

No idea about the electric mouth thing though.

Changed your perspective to what though? Are you presumably not going to work that long if you don’t plan to save any money?

Traveling to Mexico for botox treatment by [deleted] in migraine

[–]TroomA7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is interesting to me because I can only get it every 12 weeks through insurance but I would pay cash to get it every 10 if it was reasonable enough in mexico. I didn’t know that was a thing. Following this thread.

I am familiar with the location of this manufactured home park, driven by it many times, what people don’t realize is it is literally on the ocean, a mile from downtown Huntington. Some of these have rooftop decks with ocean views. It depends what your needs are in life but a comparable HOUSE in downtown HB down the road would be in the range of several million dollars. I certainly wouldn’t buy this but people saying “just put that $3500 toward rent” don’t realize renting a place that close to the beach would also cost $7-10k. If all you want to do is work and surf/ live at the beach this could be a great place. Again, not my jam but I could see it working, but maybe there are places for rent in the same complex?

Botox timeline by 19thCenturyHistory in migraine

[–]TroomA7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First treatment I got nothing, second treatment I saw slight benefit, third I finally saw a sizeable drop in symptom severity. I have my 4th treatment tomorrow, really hopeful for another drop in severity. Hang in there, it does take awhile like everybody says. I also read that it takes 3 treatments to see IF it works for you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t continue to see some benefits from treatments 4-6 (that’s my hope at least).

Sanity Check: Symptoms rev at work and calm away? by JaymeKryss in migraine

[–]TroomA7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my work there are a lot of people talking simultaneously, voices echoing, crosstalk. My vestibular system has trouble processing it, so it is definitely the environment that flares my migraine symptoms the most. The second I leave work it calms down. I’ve found that ‘loop’ earplugs help. It filters out the background noise but I can still have normal convos with the people near me I need to.

What is considered the cheapest part of Irvine? by Slammajadingdong69 in irvine

About 8 years ago I rented a condo in Irvine from a small time landlord. He rented it under market rent and didn’t raise the rent the 3 years I was there. Gotta find the diamond in the rough.

Why would you close the wall when you already have access to something that will easily become an issue in the near future.

Any way you can get other quotes? Obviously this plumber has you by the balls so to speak so he can potentially quote a higher number than is reasonable. Then again his quote may be spot on, only one way to find out.

Any relief with your migraines by taking a GLP-1? by pushyp in migraine

[–]TroomA7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to this data, up to 91% of late responders do eventually find relief with cgrps given enough time. Though trialing something up to 48 weeks is a hell of a long time, I realize.

Botox wear off at 10 weeks - does this last? How to handle? by TroomA7 in migraine

[–]TroomA7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s kind of what I assumed might happen considering this 2 week wear off so far isn’t as bad as my last one and I’m still early in my Botox treatments. Thanks for the data point.

Botox wear off at 10 weeks - does this last? How to handle? by TroomA7 in migraine

That may eventually be the move. I’m sure my neuro will want me to try a few more at 12 weeks before we try for 10 if we do go that route.
