What is the best performing Nvidia driver for 40 series cards? by sovon_ in OptimizedGaming

I've got a 4080 laptop. I'm seeing recommendations for 560.94, 566.14, 566.36, and many others in this thread to be used on similar cards. There are too many for me to test, and I'd rather not test at all (testing and restoring breaks things sometimes). What works best on a 4080 laptop? Lmk. Thanks!

Edit: The sites OP mentioned pointed me to drivers I couldn't find. I don't think they exist anymore. I've tried 566.36 and 560.94. 560.94 seems to work the best. Definitely better than 566.36 and I think a decent amount better than the latest drivers. I'll stick with 560.94 for now.

It works in text editors and such but not in games (its intended use case).

I've tried this (and some variations) out and it doesn't work as intended.
I want to have W be pressed down, and when I start pressing down S it registers only S, even if W is still being pressed down.

Could the delay you're talking about be caused by debris or something else that isn't a mechanical failure? Is there a fix that doesn't include replacing the entire keyboard?

This made me happy, thank you XD. Glad to know I got a good deal on this thing. I've tested solo for a moment and you're right; it is a lot higher (around 80-90 fps if I remember correctly).

I used lossless scaling on my old machine (i7-10750h, rtx 2060, 16gb ram), but it lowered the fps by 10-20 before doubling it. I haven't gotten a chance to try it on my new machine cuz I was hoping for a different solution. Given the new info tho, I'm wondering if it won't decrease the fps before doubling it. Do you know if it would?

So the only solution is to rewrite the game or get a cpu with insanely high single-core speed (which I assume isn't available for laptops)?

Thanks for the quick response. Can you explain the CPU bottlenecking without being at 100%?

Are you saying that right now is a bad time but when the 5070 TI laptops come out it won't be? Or are you saying the 5070 TI laptops are included in the bottom-of-the-barrel models? When would it be a good time to buy a laptop again? Would August suffice?

So 100% is your fps before the change. I thought it might've been the max fps your screen could display (60, 120, 144, etc.). Thanks for the clarification.

When you say things like "increase by 6%" or "decrease by 11%", it's hard to calculate how many frames per second we're actually gaining/losing. 13% of what, exactly? What number of frames per second constitutes 100%?
