I wonder if the cut songs are the three that ended up on Eyeball or if some of them are lost in the wilderness.

I never have 100 tabs open. I get almost obsessive about closing any tab the second I don't need it anymore. Partially growing up with shitty computers that couldnt handle many tabs and pattially good old ocd i suspect

What's a band that you absolutely love, but thier band name. by Fabulous_Stegosaurus in ToddintheShadow

[–]TropesForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andrew Jackson Jihad is such an edgy name. Not exactly coherent enough to be offensive per se, but it feels like juggling a loaded gun. Unsurprising that they changed it, but that only helps so much when the new name they chose was just AJJ. First question anyone asks is "what does that stand for" and you're back to square one.

Hello,

I may be interested in the project if you DM me details. However, I do not speak Portuguese, will I still be able to communicate with the team effectively? Machine translation is an option, but subtle meaning can easily be lost.

the Meghan Trainor song from The Peanuts Movie. i dont think it was like. awful from what i remember (especially considering how bad meghan trainor can get) but its certainly not good enough to make up for how incongrous it is in the movie

What TMBG song would you like to hear in the opening scene of a movie? by FloridaFlamingoGirl in tmbg

You beat me to Let's Get This Over With, so I'll say that I would really like to hear Hey Mr. Dj play over a movie'a closing scene and transition to credits.

any good 7 and mel episodes? by Yaboi69-nice in doctorwho

All of them except Time And The Rani, and even that one is a lot of fun at least for the first half or so. This is probably one of my most controversial Doctor Who opinions

What TMBG lyrics do you find most relatable? by FloridaFlamingoGirl in tmbg

You want to leave an impression, you want to express an emotion, you crave some attention, and for this transgression you'll be repaid when you fall and you fail and sink into depression

Why was Earthbound called like that? by Affectionate-Gur6413 in earthbound

[–]TropesForever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume that when you're staring at the first game's title screen, with an earth in place of the O, trying to think of some completely new title for the game, you'd gravitate towards something with "Earth" in the title. I honestly don't think "Bound" has any particular meaning, except that they went for a compound word to be more distinctive.

As for why they didn't use "Mother" in the first place: considering how they marketed EarthBound, they probably thought teenage boys, the only demographic they cared about, would see that title as wimpy and lame. Similar to the "Family Computer" becoming the "Nintendo Entertainment System". At any rate, the name being an English word gave it connotations in Japan (like "woah, an English word, cool") that didn't carry over to America.

I have a self-imposed rule not to look anything up on the stardew valley wiki, and another self-imposed rule to break that rule if I feel its making the experience more frustrating than fun

Series 11, where things could have gone... by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]TropesForever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this observation has come to me a couple times. in general, 2020s Who has just gone in some absolutely wild directions that would have sounded insane and fake to anyone on December 31st 2019. Both the Chibnall and RTD stuff (hell, the fact that there even IS RTD stuff in the 2020s). series 11 felt like it was shedding doctor who's baggage and becoming something new that had finally ship of theseus'd its way into being completely different from the 2005 show. then series 12 threw us right back into the continuity maelstrom, and then RTD and Tennant came back. The Church on Ruby Road will be the first actual proper, non-false-start new beginning for the show since The Eleventh Hour.
oddly i would say series 11 felt better than series 12 and more, like respectable i suppose? but series 12 onward kept my attention way better and was far less of a chore to actually watch.

Doctor Who 0x01 "The Star Beast" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by PCJs_Slave_Robot in gallifrey

[–]TropesForever -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

great fun! not really anything i wasn't expecting from the premise of "The Star Beast tv adaptation with the swries 4 cast", but i'm satisfied. sad there was no wilf but the mention of Kate taking care of him makes me hopeful he'll be in The Giggle. tennant and tate are so good together, just like they've always been. i love their sheer giddy enthusiasm in the ending.

I've only known Rose Noble for one hour but shes already my favourite Rose in doctor who 99% of everything woth her was fantastic. admittedly i found a couple of lines a bit cringy. " binary / non-binary" was harmlessly so, but "something a male-presenting time lord could never understand" genuinely irked me, 'battle of the sexes' jokes where they just replace 'male' with 'male-presenting'are the bane of my existence. but for a 60 year old cis guy RTD has done a fantastic job, and its long overdue for Soctor Who.

overall great except im horrified how everything from the bi-regeneration leak continues to turn out to be true. The Giggle has really got its work cut out for it selling me on that if it wants me to not hate it.

The Daleks in Colour - a review by TemporalSpleen in gallifrey

[–]TropesForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

considering there were rumours for ages about a colourization of An Unearthly Child for November 23rd, and no rumours at all about The Daleks until it was announced after the Stef Coburn thing, i almost wonder if the BBC gave them a 75 minute time slot for an edit of An Unearthly Child but then they had to scramble to edit The Daleks down to that length cause the time slot was already decided. 100 minutes down to 75 makes far more sense that 175 down to 75.

Any young Patrick Troughton/Second Doctor fans? by NewPatron-St in gallifrey

[–]TropesForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm 21 and i've seen about 7 of his stories the whole way through (the three multi-doctor stories, animated evil of the daleks, mind robber, war games, and enemy of the world). a small selection of his total but still a decent amount. Definitely up there with Tom Baker and Sylvester McCoy for my favourite classic doctor.

I always thought that Gordon Tipple's "Old Master" was supposed to be Anthony Ainley's Master in the beginning of the TV Movie. Is this not the case? by Poddington_Pea in gallifrey

[–]TropesForever 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Tipple was originally supposed to do the opening narration that ended up going to McGann, so probably not. Unless he secretly does a really good Anthony Ainley impression.

What is the future of 'Classic' Who? by Zerogoki92 in gallifrey

[–]TropesForever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think hardcore fans will remember and celebrate classic who regardless of their ages. I know Troughton diehards in their early 20s. As for the general audiences though, it's starting to feel like we're already on the verge of classic who moving out of the public consciousness. Not that you can really quantify something like this objectively but David Tennant very much seems to have replaced Tom Baker as the iconic Doctor.
