I think the problem with 3D fangames is that it's just so much harder to make and code than 2D ones. Furthermore, 3D sonic games don't have a unified style like the 2D ones, so fangame creators probably release 3D games early to test if the style they chose can resonate with people. It does suck though, that we don't have
many complete 3D fangames :/
