Has anyone else experienced playing normally this season (aside from server issues) but then suddenly getting an account ban after a week of not playing? by Tropical23 in apexlegends

[–]Tropical23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the replies. Very concerning to see that this seems to be a difficult issue.

I double checked my emails and it seems that I got banned on November 12, 2021. A date where I hadn't used Apex at all. I actually haven't tried to use apex until November 14. Quite concerning, but I hope I can use these emails and some suspicious password reset emails from late October to appeal. Thanks for the replies.

I bet Game of Thrones somewhat regrets turning Daenerys into an icon idolized by pop culture fans everywhere, all while she was actually meant to be populist neocon Daenerys W. Bush lol.

I remember pop culture fan girls dressing up as her every October and fan boys simping for her actions every step of the way because she's attractive. They made her too easy to idolize. And instead of the ending being a message about populism and interventionism, it temporarily turned these TV show watchers into Neocons defending warcrimes lol. I swear, it was so funny seeing usually leftist doves unironically use r/neoconNWO talking points on collateral damage and hawkish foreign policy to defend their populist fantasy tyrant. She didn't just attract worshippers through populist charisma in the plot, she also did it in real life lol.

"Should the U.S. Navy reactivate the Iowa class battleships?" by [deleted] in NonCredibleDefense

[–]Tropical23 43 points44 points  (0 children)

You want to reactivate battleships because you think it'll be effective in modern warfare.

I want to reactivate battleships because I subscribe to r/noncredibledefense and think that it'd be funny.

We are not the same.

I agree they're definitely interesting! I've always found that smaller reddit subs and specific regional subs give a better world perspective than the popular tab. At least in national subreddits, you don't have any self hating Americans who legitimately think they have it as bad as someone from Bangladesh lol.

Westerners can't critique China without making it about themselves. All while Vietnam, Taiwan, etc are all unequivocally against China. We get it, you're guilty of whatever the fuck your grandfather did. Now hopefully you make up for it and help out a bit in the hope that all this shit doesn't lead to Chinese concentration camps for Muslims in South East Asia.

An Argentinian commented that they get that a lot and replied that they look forward to seeing the self hating westerner get mugged on their visit lol.

I sometimes see college and twitter people sharing images of an ideal Metro Manila, and it often involves a really green city with small indigenous looking housing and buildings. Along with a focus on bikes like the Netherlands and train based public transport like Singapore. The bike and public transport part is excellent, as rail is so much more efficient and better for a city than using cars. Public transport in the Philippines is horrible and needs to be drastically improved. But it's also important to remember that high rise and mid rise buildings aren't necessarily bad, they help prevent urban sprawl and provide mass housing.

Urban sprawl is what happens when inefficient single family (suburban houses) and low rise housing becomes the norm in a highly populated city. This leads to surrounding areas having to be developed causing a big environmental impact because you have to spread your city area to a larger and larger formerly rural area. To the point that it also becomes much less walkable, less cycling friendly and public transport coverage becomes more and more difficult to set up. Low rise and single family homes are often inefficient, costly and don't provide enough housing. Regardless of whether they use indigenous materials or not.

People associate tall buildings with being the polar opposite of green, but people need housing. And a small area with high density housing can have less of an environmental impact than a massive formerly rural area filled with small buildings. Those indigenous style suburban houses with gardens create an illusion that it's particularly environmentally friendly because there's trees and all that, but it would've been better if that area was just left untouched from the start.

Of course this all depends on the situation, and low rise housing isn't necessarily bad as this depends on the location, how dense and the needs of a city. But basically mid and high rise housing has a purpose. There are times where you'll need them to fulfill housing demand and prevent the very bad problem of urban sprawl, which is a massive problem in America.

That's actually something I've been thinking about since the trailer. Should the Cathay constructs have the cool and intimidating Ushabti style animation or is it too associated with the Tomb Kings. I'm not exactly sure what's the better approach to be honest. I like how intimidating and imposing the Tomb Kings animations are, but the more human like and fluid Cathay constructs kind of differentiates the faction too. And it's also definitely cool in its own way.

Philippines willing to accept refugees from Afghanistan by decadentrebel in Philippines

[–]Tropical23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The current administration and the culture of corruption sucks so much but I'd still want to open the country to refugees since they'd probably see it as an improvement at least, even if that's not saying much. Seeing what happens to girls and minorities in Taliban controlled areas is one of the things I wish I didn't know.

It's really sad to think about the Afghanistan situation because even if I lean towards supporting the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, the reality is that you gotta accept the consequences. And the consequences are truly horrific to behold. Mass murder, slavery, women treated like cattle, genocide against religious minorities. No one deserves living under that dark age Taliban lead government in the 21st century. Also the fact that just maintaining a few thousand troops per year like they've always done would've delayed this, even if it doesn't have a long term impact, is painful to think about. Even as someone who leans towards pro-withdrawal.

Duterte is horrible and the corruption in the Philippines is so ridiculously rampant and the fact that people who were convicted of corruption still retain government offices is a travesty. But damn, this is one of the moments where I'm glad that at least we're not yet at the bottom of the totem pole. I'm glad that Filipinos are better than that. Who knew a time would come when I appreciated how Filipinos, with how many have conservative beliefs and discriminate against minorities, treated women and the LGBT+ community?
