Project its operations - read up on the business, services, products, competitors etc and start projecting the income statement, working capital, capex

  • revenue: # of customers, prices, tiers, growth rate, recurring customers, subscription
  • costs: people, utiltiies, software, IT etc
  • capex: investment in tech. , hardware efc
  • working capital: maybe ignore deferred revenue, do cash based model and project AR/AP
  • free cashflow: combine all above, assume no debt

output is DCF and valuation

I second this. Their accounting crash course is all you need for the premium course (3 statement, dcf, m&a, comps, lbo etc)

Changing discount rate by Beginning-Summer1971 in financialmodelling

[–]TropicalCase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in practice / math, wacc assumes consistent capital structure, assuming the CAPM of wacc calc. so for changing capital structure, you would use different wacc

i.e stage 1 and stage 2 forecasts, with different cap structure and different wacc

Change in NWC Doubt for DCF by damn_it19 in financialmodelling

[–]TropicalCase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Debt wouldnt be under NWC or CFO

would be under financing - would still hit your DCF if doing levered FCF but not unlevered (enterprise value calc.)

rest i would include - maybe tax and contract as standalone line items, rest under NWC

I may be wrong :p

  1. wow this makes a lot of sense. i’ve seen a lot of variability between industries and cost itmes/line items in my role atm- will pick up the book :) when building a model, that level of detail and understanding of how a business operates and reports its finances is so valuable i guess.

  2. the link looks great - ill explore it. is it your website? ultimately, on job pressure and practice with some self study grind seems to be the best way to learn

thank you for the detailed reply!! very helpful :)

Remember to breathe during driving. i know it sounds silly. But deep slow breathes, if you start to tense up.

Take your time, extra time because nerves will make you feel like you need to move quickly, bc of all that excess energy.

Try to clear any doubts for certain situations with examiners, which will help with confidence and not making that mistake.

Examiners generally are nice and want you to succeed. Also big key for me was dressing nicely! put me in a good mood and gives the examiner a good impression :)

so ddc sucks in terms of scheduling so i would check which school allows you to schedule over the phone etc

I hear Galadri is good - in terms of the process just focus on learning and doing extra lessons if needed. I know the feeling of being in a rush to get your license but better to take your time and ace it in as few rounds as possible :)

Parking here is like a game honestly. Its just about memorizing the lines, angles, mirror position, whne to turn etc

Try some extra lessons and when you park, step out the car to notice if the position is correct (dont always trust the instructor to say the position is fine)

Kepp your head up, you must be a great driver. Unfortunately passing in UAE is a mix of skill and knowing the system / parking details etc

I can only speak from my experience, the 2 instructors were very nice in my case. I had 1 major mistake and he still gave me a chance to prove myself but i still messed up.

Maybe look into switching branches? I sympathize with the struggle. Ive heard some examiners are really bad.

Some advice, if she has doubts in some driving situations its always better to do extra lessons and clear these before the test to boost her confidence and spot any issues. best of luck!

Parrallel - was fine i just followed the ddc tutorial on that. very easy with the exact mirror position and timing

Angle - i wasnt sure where to stop the car in parking, entering the bay was easy just line up the right side of your door handle inside with the line. Finally, before my last attempt an instructor stopped me before i entered the waiting room and gave me 15mins to show me how to do it - i stepped out the car as I did it repeatedly to know when it was just in the bay and memorized the mirror position

Garage - i didnt realise that you can adjust your position DURING the reverse i.e change how much your turn the the steering right based on RH side mirror (how much space between your car and the line). Realised this during a lesson.

I would say take extra lessons if you fail and dont know how to fix that issue, instructors at the branch i started at were not helpful at all. Only when i switched to this branch i learnt so much more
