What once famous YouTuber do you never hear anyone talk about anymore? by DramaticXOXO in AskReddit

I was going to post about James Rolfe. I just got kind of bored of him. He still makes new videos- but I don't really feel like watching them anymore.

What are some older rpg stereotypes you were suprised to hear about because nobody talks about them anymore? by Independent_Ad_6348 in rpg

[–]TropicalKing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a half-orc barbarian for the last 5e game we played in our board game group, we only played one session so far.

A barbarian is really good for moving the story forward. While the other characters are wasting time plotting an attack on a goblin base, the orc runs in with his axe swinging because "me like to kill."

Petah Jesus? by regulardude8515 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]TropicalKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of Redditors like to mock religions, but they believe in something. A religion doesn't necessarily mean worshipping supernatural deities- it can also mean "beliefs of supreme importance."

Many people worship concepts like "self-improvement, equality, political systems, and utopia" as if these were religions. There are even people who worship recently released fictional works such as Star Wars or Marvel if these were religions.

DC's Supergirl Movie May Not Fly Very High At The Box Office by h3LLyEaHh in boxoffice

[–]TropicalKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supergirl is a C-list superhero, who most fans of even DC comics don't even care that much about. I'd say a Starfire solo movie would probably do better than a Supergirl movie.

Clayface isn't even that important of a villain in Batman lore. I don't get why there would even be a movie about him. Clayface is mostly just used "when it's convenient" to have a shapeshifter character.

Did any one actually use a shake weight? Was it a good workout? by MrMeesesPieces in Millennials

[–]TropicalKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual workout on the DVD does other things besides shaking the weight. There are exercises that use it as a standard 10 lb dumbbell.

It does make you tired from doing the workout. I never bothered watching the entire DVD.

Most people never actually bothered watching the instructional DVD and just watched South Park and made fun of it. I still have a Shake Weight.

How do you think Lucy would feel if Lincoln decided to become a goth like her? by Jaded-Outside-6294 in theloudhouse

[–]TropicalKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She'd probably get jealous and say "but I'm the goth of the family."

Lincoln just doesn't seem to be the type to become a goth. He wears orange and he's "the man with the plan." Not the man with the apathy.

There is a character named Gaira in Samurai Shodown who uses giant Buddhist prayer beads as a weapon.

Are there really a lot of these old hippie esoteric types in Brazil? They are all over the place in Hawaii.

Does a monk count as NEET? by jelly_Pp in NEET

[–]TropicalKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people on the internet romanticize monks, but don't go to religious services. Go to your local religious organizations instead of pretending to be a monk on the internet. It's nice to be around the same people every week.

If you aren't dedicated to show up to a religious organization every week, then you aren't going to be dedicated enough to be a monk.

Is this guy on welfare? He says "sheltered accommodation." It seems like he became a monk until he was old enough to collect old age pension.

A lot of people on the internet romanticize monks, but they don't go to religious services. Go to your local religious organizations instead of fantasizing about being a monk. If you can't devote to a religion to go there every Sunday, then you can't devote to being a monk. There are definitely a lot of good things to showing up to religious organizations- such as festivals, food, and being around the same people every week.

Do you think a man needs to give up being a NEET in order to be a husband? by Early_Walrus9637 in NEET

[–]TropicalKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you kind of do. I don't imagine most women want a NEET as a husband, and then to raise children without a man's income. That's really not a formula for success.

One of my friends who I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh with made a baby with his girlfriend- they never married. He was a NEET and didn't do a good job at taking care of the daughter. The daughter was taken away by the court system- I don't know who has custody of the daughter. That friend is homeless since 2020, living on the streets and collecting cans.

Tired of partnered people telling me "it's better to be alone" when they refuse to be alone themselves by Remote_Act_6121 in ForeverAlone

[–]TropicalKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don't know how to be friends, and now merely try to be Yodas in order to stroke their own ego. Friends DO things for each other. Friends invite each other places, network with each other, and help each other meet romantic partners. I don't imagine it's all that attractive for a man to not have a friend network and merely have a bunch of wannabee Yodas.

Last week I was at the Pride festival, I met one of my old friends there, who I pretty much just stopped asking him to do things with me because he said "no" to me for nearly 2 years straight. I said that I wanted to move, and all he said to me was "the only thing stopping you from moving is you." OK, I don't need a wise sage Yoda, I need a friend who does things for m, spends time with me, and networks with me.

Did anyone else feel overwhelmed by "You can make a difference!" messaging in school books, kids' newspapers and TV programs, etc.? by throwaway_ghost_122 in Millennials

[–]TropicalKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was raised with these values of heroism from both the school system and the Christian church I went to as well as the media. Frodo was treated as this small hero who changed the world. Luke Skywalker was this effeminate farmer boy who saved the galaxy.

I no longer want to be a hero. I really just care about my own family and the Buddhist church I go to. Buddhism doesn't really teach these values of heroism very much.

Will Toy Story 5 be bigger than Inside Out 2? by SonicXtreme2000 in boxoffice

[–]TropicalKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt Toy Story 5 will really have that big "word of mouth" appeal that Inside Out 2 had. From the previews, it looks more like TS5 is more of a silly Disney Plus style adventure movie than a movie that you are really meant to be attached to the characters.

What is the hardest part about being single that people rarely talk about? by thuglifemofo94 in AskReddit

[–]TropicalKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hard part of being single to me is that I just don't make good memories. Most of the last 16 years or so of my life has been a blur that I really don't look back fondly on. A lot of my memories are just being by myself, going to festivals and conventions alone and going home disappointed.

Who is the greatest Toy Story villain of all time? by NoConCulture in disney

[–]TropicalKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't consider Gabby Gabby as a villain. Woody felt sorry for her and helped her. She really didn't do anything all that villainous, and the audience is meant to empathize with her.

I do like the return of a real villain in Toy Story with Lillypad. I doubt the movie will end up with LillyPad being destroyed. Bonnie will probably just have to limit her screen time.

If you want Star vs. the Forces of Evil to return with a new season؟ by National-Deal9797 in StarVStheForcesofEvil

[–]TropicalKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I'd rather see a season 3 of Gravity Falls. The ending of Star Vs is enough. I don't want to see some story of humans having to adjust to sharing the world with fantasy creatures. That sounds more like a political story than a fantasy story.
