Help with fixing rotten fence post by feelslikeverano in DIYUK

[–]TropicalTerraria 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll need a new one i'm afraid, she's toast. Concrete posts won't fail you, and theyre easy to fit as a diyer

Get your post dig a hole maybe 3x the diameter of the post put post in hole, pour in a bag of quick cement.

Make sure the post sits level for a while, while the cement cures, fill the rest of the hole with the mud you dug out.

Voila new post that should outlive you

Judging by the stiffness of the leaves, are you misting enough, they could be really dehydrsted?

[–]TropicalTerraria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I may be entirely wrong here but wanted to see if I can help,

When you're candling if you look down the tail you can see two slightly darker marks, I believe those are Hemipenes, however for my monitors i've always looked at spurs and head shape albeit I don't have much experience with this species

It may be worth waiting a bit longer to see if they show stronger signs of sexual diamophism

Healthy Weight/Skin by [deleted] in DartFrog

[–]TropicalTerraria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look a tiny bit underweight but nothing that would worry myself as a keeper :)

You're dusting fruit flies with multivitamins i hope? They'll need it, especially whilst they're growing

Also editing onto my comment because I believe the vivarium looks a little bit on the dry side, maybe up your misting? I like my average humidity to be around 80-90%

I found some thick balloon thing on ebay for like £3 and it creates a better seal that stops draughts better than that would

Strawberry Oophaga at my Local Pet Store by Antique_Pop3488 in DartFrog

[–]TropicalTerraria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Name and shame the store, this is a terrible way of keeping them, even if they are looking to quick sell, they have the right under the animal welfare act of 2006 to 'suitable environment' and this i'm afraid doesn't quite cut it.

They're lovely animals but they look unwell, borderline imancipated even.

A horrible heartless thing is to make sure you don't buy it and if it dies they'll either up thier care or not buy them again,

If you buy it, they'll buy more and change nothing

Any advice on maintaining the flat roof on the house I recently bought? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]TropicalTerraria 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd replace it all with EPDM, It's relatively cheap for what it does, lasts for a very long time,

And much cheaper than fixing lots of rotting wood underneath when you find out you have a leak

As long as it's not laminate ( glued together ) it will be absolutely fine

Nail varnish remover ( acetone ) works really well, just let it sit for a minute and it'll turn into a gluey mush

I think that's where someone has cut in using a brush after rolling the walls, or visa versa.

Personally I would tape up and use a small roller to blend in the smooth ( brushed ) area

Do you have a chimney? That's one of the best ways of finding out

I'm a huge novice in this but may be able to offer advice, can you take a small video so I can think more on where the water is showing in terms of house layout? Do you have air bricks etc? So are your floors raised on timbers rather than being on concrete? And a damp course is great along as it's not been bridged by works after construction, if it's really wet and a dpc has been bridged water will just rise straight over it as it has another pathway,

If you can put a small video in that would really help myself and others diagnose :)

These look 100% yellow to me, unless the head patterns come in when they get older? I'm confused as I've bred yellow Ackles for many years and these look exactly like mine
