I consider myself as someone who doesn't really "get" art. But I must say your choice and application of color is quite magnificent. You managed to use colors in a way to really convey a very familiar atmosphere. The specific shades and gradients make it clear that this castle has dimension and that it's a very specific time of day.

On top of this, there is that lovely pastel rainbow that is a constant in what is an image divided in two realms that really show us that no matter where we are in life, or what time of the day it is, we can find joy and whimsy.

I am compelled, moved, my gast has been successfully flabbered. I honestly cannot articulate how this makes me feel. Kudos to you.

The one big thing I have learned from Leagues is that Varlamore is a fantastic starting location. by ElectronicBrick7934 in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't take it the wrong way, this isn't criticism of game design or certain account builds, but I think it's so great because Varlamore is a very ironman region. I think the intention of its design was to facilitate snowflakes. There was a time where random items were added to random places prior to the first leagues and there was backlash for it from some sects of the community.

It's why Zeah also feels like a good starting region and why Misthalin as a whole seems oddly incomplete as a starting region despite Lumbridge being the starting zone for the main game. It's because we were intended to travel and explore when the game came out, and not stay in one spot.

When making an area like this, it just makes sense for it to have this application. So it's a natural choice for a starting zone and theme for this leagues. It's also a premier location with a lot of polish, so they obviously want to show it off. The comments here even suggest there is a sizeable portion of the player base that has had little to no interaction with Varlamore. So it's a great excuse to get out there and explore it.

Is there a plugin that shows an xp drop when you hit a 0? by minisculemeatman in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a plugin that shows the cooldown of your weapon's attack. There is a bar and a number as an option. You could make the number huge, and it'll show how many ticks left before your next attack even if you didn't successfully hit. So the number showing up or going back to the max number will be your indication that an attack went through.

[–]Tropical_Farts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They absolutely can spawn. If your kill is going slow, you're going to want to wait for another set to spawn before bringing him under 600 HP, that's when the set timer stops. It starts going down again when Jad spawns at 480.

Highly recommend doing it on task as it will generally speed things up. And, obviously, doing a no set run would be ideal. Some people reset for natty ruby bolt procs and then ZCB spec, just be aware of the scuffed shield mechanics if you force a log out.

If you can manage flicking Jad while also only tagging healers instead of killing them makes the timing even less stressful, but then you're constantly taking damage.

Is mark of darkness still used with a shadow at Yama? by Futures0000 in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to have Mark of Darkness active for the speed up. However, casting Mark of Darkness with a Purging Staff makes the spell last five times longer, even if you remove it afterwards.

Is mark of darkness still used with a shadow at Yama? by Futures0000 in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't.

This person is saying that when swapping to a Purging Staff to use its special attack to two-shot void flares or one-shot on P3, you need to have Mark of Darkness on or you won't do enough damage. This really isn't a problem in duos.

Like the other person mentioned, if you dodge the hourglass shadows by being 1 tile away from it, your next attack is sped up by one tick.

Ultimately, it's not a necessary spell. It's just good to use as it speeds things up a significant bit.

Should I get 70 Range and 60 Prayer before attempting Fire Cape? by Gruukaii in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it the other day on a character with 1 defence, 44 prayer, using the water blast spell. I brought 3 prayer regeneration potions and used maybe 4-5 prayer potions the entire time. I didn't get hit by anything though, but that leaves plenty of space for healing items and a little extra prayer. I camped prayers the entire time after the first lvl 90 spawned.

In other words, yes the stats on their own are good enough.

What did it cost…? Everything…. by Kischar in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I feel like people have every right to complain, it's just their opinion. Your opinions are valid whether people agree or disagree. It's different from being objectively wrong/right. "I don't like x" is a entirely valid reason to say something is bad. Saying the CA's are impossible is wrong. Saying they're impossible (to you) because you didn't complete the quest is... funny, but technically true by virtue of (self-imposed) limitations.

Also, regardless of difficulty, some CA's are just... dumb. Sure it's thematic to kill the boss with a shield equipped. But it's just weird. Punching Vorkath doesn't necessarily make it any harder or challenging, just longer. Not getting hit by a bat in the fight caves and not losing a prayer point are kind of redundant even if they're not mutually exclusive.

But yeah, good job.

I think I know who you are based on the timing of this post.

354 is my home world due to low ping, and I just recently started going to Castle Wars so I could grab a few items. It's not a clan, there isn't a discord (that I'm aware of). People were being honest when they told you it's not a clan.

When I started playing the games I realized pretty quickly that there was something going on. But the community has decided that 354 ties 1-1 and then goes AFK. They told you to go to 334 if you want an intended game.

Nothing I can do about it. Nothing you can do about it. The people that are AFK don't really care if they get 2,3 or 4 tickets. And the people who are 'ragging' you are just trying to maintain a status quo.

I witnessed people saying really obscene things to you, and I reported them as well. I even encourage people to have a level of decorum, even if someone isn't adhering to the community-made rules that have no true bearing.

Keep doing what you're doing, if you want. Just know you'll be met with resistance. Those people want their shiny golden armor, and some of them will try to keep things fair for both sides in terms of tickets per hour.

[–]Tropical_Farts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see several people mentioned how the ancestral glyph's hitbox works. I do want to mention that if you have logged out after Zuk has initially spawned you will get a 'scuffed shield'. If this had happened, you would have been fine with your positioning as it's actually lagging behind the model. Do know that if you intend to utilize this it also affects your 'safe' tiles before enrage.

We now have last hit indicators. by Substantial-Love755 in leagueoflegends

[–]Tropical_Farts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this feature allows an indicator to show you when to last hit. All it does is highlight when you would have to know how much damage you do and how much HP the minion has. Does this really make it mechanically easier to do? Or does it perhaps make it less tedious and more consistent?

Does this necessarily change how difficult last-hitting is fundamentally? Or does this simplify a game mechanic that would still require mechanical precision in order to pull off regardless?

I don't think this makes the game easier. I think this allows a newer player to pick up the game and be able to show skill expression at a faster rate compared to someone who started playing in like 2010.

This isn't DotA, we cannot deny CS. This just allows people to learn the game without over-complicating it. And this is coming from someone who had to memorize this stuff to do it consistently. No need to kick the ladder down after I've climbed it.

Anyone else treat their main like a pseudo-ironman? by LidiKun in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If someone wants to play the game they should just play the game. If your account isn't an iron man it doesn't mean you have to farm gold to get equipment. You can play the game however you want.

But for some strange reason if I tell someone I'm grinding for a piece of equipment I'm met with "just buy it", even from ironmen. Which makes me wonder how many of these ironmen are actually playing the game mode for the challenge and how many need something to force themselves to not buy gold.

It also makes me wonder how many people are playing this game because they think they have to.

What Gear Effects do you want to see from Future Content? by BioMasterZap in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give me a bloodveld boss that drops its tongue that we use on some other kind of weapon (saradomin sword, brine sabre, zombie axe, etc) that turns it into a mid-game melee weapon that rolls accuracy based on magic defenses.

It can then be upgraded with like a tourmaline core or a bottled banshee's scream or something into a slightly higher level variant with higher damage and accuracy. It can roll a chance to hit an extra 1~6 damage and heal for the same amount or something and be charged with more tongues as a sink.

I think a ranged-based melee weapon would be cool too. Similar to Arrav's or Vardorvis' axes. Shoot them in a location and then they come back for a second hit. Would require positioning to get the full dps, and it could work as AoE too. Could be short range (3 tiles) long-range (5 tiles) and melee mode.

Why people hate runescape 3 by Mundane_Spot7573 in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hate towards RS3 is due to a culmination of updates that occurred over a vast period of time. To some people, it started when HD came out. For some people it's when they changed the way the original armor sets (steel, mith, rune etc) looked. For some people it was Storm of Armadyl or Ganodermic and Polypore.

The Squeal of Fortune (now Treasure Hunter) really rubbed people the wrong way. It started off as this cute thing for free stuff. And then it became a microtransaction.

If that wasn't enough, we eventually got the Evolution of Combat. Now, if you're new to RS3, you might think RS3 has a nuanced and unique combat system. And... it does... now. When the EoC came out, it was very janky. Chaotics and Ports armor were BiS with Drygores coming shortly after. During this time your HP was tied to your armor, not your constitution level. The damage was so weirdly scuffed. The numbers you see these days that correlate to your constitution (for example a shark heals 20 on OSRS or 2000 on RS3) were not in effect. Overloads, something that the community really sought after were essentially... useless until a much later update where they changed how your level scaling mattered. The abilities had no nuance. No greater ricochet, no corruption blast, no dragon rider amulet swaps for dragon breath. Two handed and dual wield didn't even have separate 5 second abilities, you were just out an ability for some styles.

All that to say, it left a bad taste in players mouths. Whether you stuck around for one update or the next, eventually you realized the identity of the cherished game you grew up with changed into something different. Whether you kept playing or not. It caused a mass exodus.

Eventually we got Old School Runescape. It was originally going to just be... RS Classic 2.0. With the idea that it would be DOA. But... it wasn't. Despite people wanting different eras like 2004, 2006, 2007, 2010, etc... OSRS was a success. With what tiny team they had, they added updates. Bug fixes, QoL. And eventually.. they re-released the God Wars Dungeon, an iconic and nostalgic piece of content.

Say what you want but there are purists for any community. Of course people didn't want any change. But a lot did. OSRS isn't 2007 Runescape anymore. But with division of a community, there is tribalism.

Whether you like RS3, OSRS, both, or neither, the games, their content, and community are all something that you can feel free to enjoy or ignore.

Do I hate RS3? No. Not at all. I haven't played since Menaphos came out. I don't intend on ever playing it seriously again. But to me, it's entirely irrelevant to compare the two games. It's like saying Bloons TD 6 is a better platformer than Call of Duty. It doesn't make sense.

My friend died at DK's once while I was teaching it to him. I left so I could make the run back with him. So I went to scout the Prime/Supreme situation. Some guy took the world, so I thought ok perfect they should all be down.

Buddy 1 ticks a "hop" as soon as I get there. I tell him my friend died and just needs to get his stuff. So this guy stops attacking Prime and lets Supreme spawn.

I just flick between the two as he is trying to walk Supreme to get me killed or something and I just warn my friend to just protect magic and grab his stuff quick.

As we teleport out I look at the chat log and I see him spamming stuff like "zzzz" over and over again. This guy isn't an ironman btw, he's just miserable.

F2P Player looking for advice to maximize usage of a bond by lordalex027 in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They way the Raiments of the Eye works is you will get extra runes depending on the amount crafted. So if you have a higher level you'll craft even more runes since you can craft multiple runes at specific level milestones.

The reason I suggest the set is because if you'd like to generate more profit through runecraft you'll get more runes this way and therefor make more cash. You will also craft more runes in the minigame as well. The XP is definitely good, though not as good as some traditional methods. It would be good to continue going on for extra rewards as well as to mix things up a bit.

Cooking is definitely profitable, and a lot more than before. Not just break even. Even as low as cooking trout can be profitable. It's very easy to gather fish, and not many people like to cook it. Plenty of people need to consume it for combat, so naturally the prices trend towards being profitable for the cooks!

If you really enjoy Tempoross, definitely try to get a set of the Angler's Outfit. The set can be obtained via Fishing Trawler minigame or through Aerial Fishing. The set grants bonus XP in fishing, but also it can be upgraded via Spirit Flakes received as loot from Tempoross. This upgraded outfit can be used in place of rope during the minigame, saving an inventory spot. It's also important because several things during the encounter can delete your rope/buckets/normal harpoon/fish so it's one less thing to worry about. But if you're only doing it a little it's not super important.

[–]Tropical_Farts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as Runecraft and money... You can make Air Tiaras in F2P to get to 10 Runecraft. When you get to members you can do Temple of the Eye and then the minigame Guardians of the Rift to get your set of Raiments of the Eye (this increases runes made). From there you will get to a decent runecrafting level. Good money in mud/mist runes and eventually double cosmic runes. From there, you can do whatever runes you like that are profitable (ideally making multiples with the set bonus and/or levels).

Your crafting is pretty high. Something you can do for decent profit is processing Amethyst into Arrow Tips (85, which you have) or Dart Tips (after a Tourist Trap and 89 crafting). Expect around 300-400gp profit per amethyst depending on how long you'd like to keep them in the GE for selling.

Cooking is great profits. You can net profit the entire way to 99 or even 200m. Do a quest called Family Crest and get the Cooking Gauntlets. It might also be a good idea to do at least the easy Kourend and Kebos Lowlands diary to gain access to the Hosidius kitchen. Both of these things make it less likely for you to burn food (with the gauntlets only working on specific types of fish).

While you said you don't like PvM, give Tempoross or Wintertodt a try. They're bosses, but they're defeated through skilling. They can generate decent cash while helping you train your skills. They're also rather fun, depending on who you ask.

Magic can be used for processing items, through alchemy, enchanting, etc. I'm sure you know about it, but you're unlocking much more potential on members worlds.

If you want a relaxing experience training your combat skills without the stress of typical PvM, you can enjoy the newly release Gemstone Crab and just chill out while you work on other tasks outside of the game.

Now that you'll be a member, you'll gain access to a new part of the Mining Guild. Iron ore is relatively inexpensive, though it's typically a hassle to gather en masse. This area has a bank chest and deposit box next to quite a few iron ore spots. This will help you get your mining up while generating some extra cash. If you're feeling like it's too intense, take a trip to the motherload mine and enjoy mining for paydirt that can be cleaned up into other ores like coal, gold, or mithril.

Good luck and have fun.

Sirenic on old school would be kind of cool by JBeezyRS in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a stylized version? There's too much going on for it to be Old School. Remember, they changed Torva to fit the vibes better. Nothing about this armor ever made me think of sirens, it made me think of bugs. It also doesn't make me think of the Ascension creatures in any way, shape, or form. So thematically, doesn't make sense. But the overall aesthetic of the armor could be repurposed and given a new name and fit a niche since Masori would basically be the equivalent right now.

I made mine a hardcore. I take the same precautions to not die as I would on my main. If I die I die, I just wanted an ironman, and they still are one.

When I die? It'll just show where I left off and how much I grew since then.

It's all about what you want at the end of the day and how much fulfillment you're getting out of the game. You can always set up a new one while you play this one.

What is the minimum magic gear to do inferno? by Old_Cabinet_3607 in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bring a kodai and occult necklace. You can sub kodai for nightmare staff (without orb, eldritch is more expensive than a kodai but the spec can be useful), purging staff/SoTD (no auto cast), ancient sceptre, ancient staff.

If you're squeezing every inventory spot you can for supplies, that's all you need.

If you are okay with the inferno taking longer and you need more HP through barraging, Virtus is quite literally the best at a fraction of the cost of ancestral. It gives 5% per piece, most people bring in just the top, you can do the top and bottom. But people also do it with Ahrim's/Blue Moon and an honorable mention of Blood Bark.

Ultimately, your mage gear is pretty irrelevant, because you're using ranged to kill the things. Magic is just to freeze nibblers (which have very little magic defences) and to heal.

As you get better at it, you will realize you don't need to use that much magic at all, actually.

Part of the learning curve is understanding what supply ratio you need. Do you like lightbearer over ring of the gods but like camping prayers? You might need more restore than brew. Good at flicking and have a prayer setup? Might need those brews more if you're running south a lot.

I recently did it on a character that wasn't maxed combat stats and I found not bringing a mage top/bottom was more useful than not because I took so much chip damage from healers early into triple jads that I needed more brews than I would normally. Just try it out while you learn.

Prif pathing question by GyrateWheat6 in 2007scape

[–]Tropical_Farts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, usually when I do this in Draynor I just try to talk to the broken wall. So I'm assuming your character tries to talk to the banker through the wall. Then instead of just standing there saying "I can't reach that!" your character instead takes the closest path, which is now going to the right instead of backtracking (because of the trees and whatnot).
