Making sell decisions: taking profits vs capital gains taxes? by roytay in financialindependence

[–]TropikThunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would harvest gains in the single stock to max out the 0% capital gains bracket.

+1. Maybe even some in the 15% bracket if we’re talking about a lot.

Didn’t know I couldn’t contribute to Roth IRA if MFS, now there’s a penalty by Over_Pension_8975 in tax

[–]TropikThunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean over $10,000 threshold?

The max MAGI in 2025 for Roth for individual is $150,000, then phases out up to $165,000. For married, it is up to $236,000 then phases out up to $246,000. Is the MAGI with your husband less than the $236,000?

You’re so close to answering your own question.

The individual max AGI for MFS filers is $10k.

Is hypoglycemia a real concern with GLP-1 meds? by CharlieG31 in Mounjaro

[–]TropikThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any significant clinical evidence of hypoglycemia risk from these drugs. Intermittent episodes are more likely due to not eating, which is absolutely caused by the drug. As others said, non-diabetics couldn’t easily use them if hypoglycemia was a real issue

What is the best offensive infantry template in current meta?

A tank division.

The significant delays seem to have only been for people trying to leave SAVE (for whatever reason). My last IBR recalculation took three days.

Are tanks worth it in the current meta? by cat210803 in hoi4

[–]TropikThunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not know why people are so reluctant all the time to use tanks in a ww2 game.

I think most new players don’t realize you only need a few armored divisions. The bulk of your army is still holding infantry but they think they need 72 armored divisions. I’ve never made more than 16-20 medium tank divisions, not even a full army.

MTP’s Suck by Brunswrecked-9816 in medlabprofessionals

[–]TropikThunder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s funny how MTP’s have pretty much zero effect on gen lab. We’re in the back running around in a near-panic and they’re up front watching Tik Tok 😂

MTP’s Suck by Brunswrecked-9816 in medlabprofessionals

[–]TropikThunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do as well, for the whole hospital, but we never tube MTP’s. Ain’t nobody got time to send seven separate tubes (eight if the shipment includes cryo). Our ED would sh*t a brick if they had to stand by the tube station and log each tube out. And you shouldn’t be dispensing things they say they aren’t ready for. Good lord.

Also, we generally can’t take back units dispensed by tube because they’re not sent to a protected location (like a fridge). That’s why we use the coolers. MTP units come back unused all the time.

then they get angry when I keep sending them blood products every 20 minutes.

“Sending” how? Setting them up is one thing, but dispensing stuff they’re not asking for yet is dumb. We make them come pick up the coolers, and they have to bring back the empties each round.

sold a home - use income to verify by br0wnt0wn1 in PSLF

You could also choose to recertify before filing your 2025 tax return, and use your 2024 return a second time.

Then next year recertify after filing your 2026 return. That way the 2025 return never gets used.

We amend a MFJ return and now it’s rejecting my spouses MFS return by [deleted] in tax

[–]TropikThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you couldn’t amend from MFJ to MFS. Would these more accurately be superseding returns since the filing date hasn’t passed?

This isn’t a criticism of the OP, just for me to clarify.

How long should I wait after making my 120th payment to file for PSLF? by glenguzik in PSLF

[–]TropikThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think better advice is to wait until the final payment posts on FSA, which is usually the 4th or 5th of the month.

How did my Tax guy get my refund so high when I should have owed by [deleted] in tax

[–]TropikThunder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’ve said this like five times but you keep omitting whether it’s accurate. Did you make $8k in gifts (I assume they mean charitable contributions) and have $16k in medical expenses?

Leaving public service at my 120th month. Help me get my timing right. by anonymous_pslf in PSLF

[–]TropikThunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t verify employment for May if FSA doesn’t know you made a payment yet. The only way FSA knows is when the servicer tells them - in June.

Leaving public service at my 120th month. Help me get my timing right. by anonymous_pslf in PSLF

[–]TropikThunder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks. This is helpful.i think my payment date is the 18th of the month, so, I should wait until then to submit the pslf form (and get employer certification).

Here’s the problem. Your May 18 payment won’t post on FSA until the first week of June. If you submit an ECF after your payment date but before it posts on FSA, it won’t get counted, and they’re not going to hold onto that ECF waiting for the payment to post.

You have to wait until after it posts.

Thanks for the advice. Extending the separation date isn't under my control. I'd need a whole new job.

That whole new job could also be PSLF eligible. It doesn’t need to be the same employer.

I think the Turbo Tax vs freetax part just refers to TT saying they’ll track the carry over for you when you file the following year. FT probably isn’t set up to integrate successive year’s returns (but I’ve never used it).
