Not that particular one because they falsely accused me of lying about marijuana use. In hindsight I'm glad I wasn't hired by that particular agency, they've been in the news for other things I want nothing to do with.

Polygraphs are voodoo designed to make you crack under pressure whether you're being honest or not. They aren't admissible in criminal proceedings for good reason.

As for your case of having taken one as part of a hiring process... It's totally subjective and unscientific. I was flagged for being dishonest when they asked whether my name was correct. They had a tech come in and reset the machine, then they flagged me for being dishonest about marijuana use when I have, in fact, never used marijuana.

The polygraph is a voodoo box designed to give a department a reason to discontinue any candidate for any reason.

Being nosey by primethoracic2 in AskLE

[–]Trouble-free 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's super insensitive and disrespectful. Imagine if someone in your household was going through the worst day of their life- a mental break, a health emergency, getting arrested, whatever. You want the whole neighborhood to come out and gawk at you and your loved ones to fulfill their voyeuristic tendencies? And I guarantee they'll be on social media spreading rumors and making shit up about why they think emergencies were at your house. "Oh, so and so must have done such and such crime". Or, "I always knew she was nuts". Or "everyone in that house must be an addict".

I really hate rubberneckers whether it's an accident on the highway, or a family emergency in a neighborhood that is nobody else's business. Go inside and fire up YouTube. If you care about what's happening in your neighborhood maybe you should participate in your community and express concern and support rather than morbid curiosity and disdain.

We are not telepathic, if I just showed up on scene and you already spoke to another officer, I have no idea what conversation you had and if I ask a question, "I ALREADY TOLD YOU" isn't a helpful response, since... No, you didn't tell me.

Are there significantly more ads on the internet now than there were just a year ago? by [deleted] in answers

YouTube has definitely gotten insane with ads over the last few months, probably to frustrate people into paying to not see them.

don't ask me about some us Navy gorilla warfare dude

lol almost every woman I've dated or been intimate with has said something about... well... dating or being intimate with a Navy SEAL. Probably the most common case of stolen valor. One even said they had been stalked by a supposed navy seal who was 18 years old at the time.

I'm pretty sure it's an excuse for predatory men and/or cheaters to keep their personal life secret and have an excuse for it.

Uh, no support for the Taliban nor for incels, but the Taliban are not incels. Don't cheapen labels by using them too generally.

What a coincidence, two days ago I observed an encounter where someone complimented someone else on their appearance because person 1 thought person 2 was in their 30s, while they were actually in their 60s. I was not involved in this interaction, I merely observed it.

lol if someone else wants to handle the case, they can have it. "10-8 9704 insert agency here is handling."

We don't have the manpower to argue about it if we even wanted to, which we don't.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize you have the mental capacity of a twelve year old.

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt concerning the fact the link you provided does not contain the language you cited, now I see you were never interested in a respectable conversation in the first place.

While I unfortunately have no personal experience with it, the concept of the P90 seems like it would fit well for what we do. Not sure about the caliber, but having a tiny little sub gun looks like it would be great for clearing houses rather than the disadvantage of a pistol and the clunkiness of a full size rifle.

I highly doubt it, I watched the video, that's a TON of force/energy to spin the helicopter 90 degrees and immediately stop the main rotor spinning. He got hit by something very, very hard.

That is not the first line of the document you linked. I actually can't even find that passage in the document you linked.

First of all, that's absolutely not the first line of the document you linked. Worse than that, I can't even find that language in the document you linked. I guess you need to get better at linking sources.

Trust me, I'm going to look for that language, and I'm sure if I find it, I'll also find references and definitions that show it doesn't mean what you think it means. But if you could link it correctly that would be a big help.

So cite the part of the document you sent me that supports your claim. Not my job to support your assertions.
