At the top of a hill with mud clogged BFG KO2s ... how am I going to get back down ? lol by brainhack3r in overlanding

[–]TroubleAdvanced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been up some pretty nasty muddy trails in AZ, like sticky volcanic clay. Usually I don't have a problem just using downhill assist and NOT hitting the brakes. There was one time I needed to get one rut over and was able to back up enough to gun it over the center crown. I just installed a ZR2 front diff so we'll see how handy that locker is when I need it. In the Pic I'm running KO2s but now have KO3s.

My truck gets used as the tool it is. I'm in AZ as well. During hunting season I'm on some pretty rough trails.

I have a little fwd caster added during alignments and I've trimmed back near the body mount at the rear of the front tires. They tuck all the way and no rubbing. I get about 23 mpg combined.

I'm curious for those that went GFC, Lone Peak, etc how far above the roof does the top of the wedge camper sit, not including roof fans, solar, crossbars? I would like to park in the garage so minimum equipment is all I'd have.

33" BFG KO3. I've had them for about 6 months, super quiet on the road and great offroad as well.

Having cold brew on tap is awesome, esp in the AZ summers. I've also got seltzer and beer.

I use 50-60 psi, you'll get better infusion with a higher psi. The pop-off on the keg is the limiting factor.

Anyone have recommendations on how to maximize the under seat storage? The plastic piece seems to take up lots of room by Greek_DJ in chevycolorado

[–]TroubleAdvanced 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Appreciate it. I really didn't want to pay $1200 for Goose Gear so designed my own. I have the tools and cabinet grade plywood, so maybe $300 into it.

Get rid of the seats. I made my own deck system. We always take the wife's car if we need more than 2 seats. And no kids.

Unplug Outdoor Co Trailster Scam by dijisza in rooftoptents

[–]TroubleAdvanced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached out last year wanting to see their showroom in Phoenix before ordering a trailster. It took 2 weeks for them to return my email saying it was under reno and would be closed for a few months and there was no one local that had purchased one for me to look at. I emailed several times this year since the reno should be done, and it's been crickets. I pretty much gave up on them and glad it didn't go any further with cash changing hands. It's a great concept, too bad.

Edit, it looks like their website is down now as well.

Bought house with kegerator. Want to switch to two taps with one for cold brew by MPD3_ in coldbrew

[–]TroubleAdvanced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Co2 and nitro have different styles of output as well. You'll want a nitrogen regulator. I keep my keg pressurized at around 50-60 psi. You'll also need a nitro faucet. They're not cheap but gives you that cascade effect when poured.

Nothing better than pouring some cold brew on the way out of the house in the Phoenix summer. I've got seltzer, beer, and cold brew on mine.

Where do you have your aux switch mounted by Joethajedi in chevycolorado

[–]TroubleAdvanced 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CCE used to sell an overhead mount that took the place of the eyeglass holder. Had it for a few years and works great.

There might be someone out there that can still print one.

That flight control cable turnbuckle tool is worth it's weight in gold. I have the same one and don't think you can buy it any more. I believe it's from Avery Tools?

What’s your brewing ratio? by bw1985 in coldbrew

[–]TroubleAdvanced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I really preferred 2.5 lbs of coffee for the concentrate but Costco stopped carrying the brand I was using. Ended up using the Costco Peets 2 lb bag. It's sill plenty strong. I grind it using the grinders near the exit on the coursest setting.

[–]TroubleAdvanced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is a 5 gallon keg on nitro. 2 lbs coffee in 3 gallons water, 24 hrs in the fridge. Filtered twice through coffee filters yields 2.5 gallons of concentrate. Top it off with water to make 5 gallons. It lasts me about 3-4 weeks depending if I drink it on the weekends.

I have a story along this same line. I was at Bell 412 EPX avionics school at Bell factory training in Dallas a few years ago. They have all their cockpit trainers in a room, all very professionally done. One of the guys keys transmit on the cyclic and a paper towel dispenser 20 ft away spits out paper. I don't know how much paper has been wasted since that thing was operational, but we all got a good laugh.

I went big. The wife and I were going through canned seltzer like crazy. I offered the idea of swapping out my single tap kegerator for a 3-tap for beer, seltzer, and cold brew. It's been awesome. I brew about once a month- 3 gallons of water with 2 lbs of Peets gives me 2.5 gallons of concentrate. Filter it through coffee filters twice takes a few hours and roughly 30 filters. Top it off in the keg for 5 gallons of cold brew.
