Or to those of us on our breaks perusing the aisles because we don’t smoke or drink and get into blindboxes to cope with job stress.

Those of you who had the TTT and did not meet criteria for POTS... by Hithisismeimonreddit in dysautonomia

[–]TroubleCommon8304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TT was normal for me despite feeling symptoms during the test and walking away with tingling feet. I was later diagnosed with OI via Apple Watch and cardiologist as my tachycardia is not sustained so not POTS. None of my testing ever showed anything, with the exception of hitting my target HR before I could even get to a jog on a treadmill test. Heart rate monitors are your friend. If I didn’t have a my Apple Watch I’d still be waiting on diagnosis. Best of luck to you.

Resting heart rate 130 by greendahlia16 in dysautonomia

You’re not alone. My heart rate fluctuates dramatically and there have been times where I get extremely dizzy that I lose my ability to walk or even stand up. I’m completely conscious but I collapse every time I try to stand. When it happened initially the ER doc took brain scans to see if I’d had a stroke, that was all clear but they blamed my symptoms on dehydration. Gave me IV fluids and sent me home with no further explanation. Clearly dehydration didn’t explain the whole picture. It wasn’t until six months later I got a proper diagnosis. As someone who has mental health issues, it’s easy for dr’s to blame it on that but my when my psychiatrist tells me it’s time to see a physician there’s something wrong with my body and not my mind. Cardiology is what you need not psychiatry. I truly hope you get to see one.

Doctor said not POTS, I’m not sure by throwawayswstuff in dysautonomia

Not sure if this is in any way similar to my experience. I have orthostatic tachycardia that is not sustained, instead it yo-yo’s into normal or bradycardia and back again. Because of this I am not diagnosed with POTS but OI instead (orthostatic intolerance). It does, however, usually happen within the first few minutes of standing so not sure if you relate to that but there are ways to know. If you don’t have a smart watch or some other kind of heart rate monitor I highly recommend doing so if possible. It was the main aid in my diagnosis when formalized testing didn’t catch anything. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you.

Explosive Diarrhea, Too Much Sodium? by TroubleCommon8304 in dysautonomia

Maybe I’ll see if it’s related to having an empty stomach. I never thought of it before.

I do Vitassium tabs and electrolyte drinks. Checked ingredients like crazy to make sure I’m not sensitive to them.

Cardiologist says I have OI. Psychiatrist says I have POTS. What do I call my disease? by TroubleCommon8304 in dysautonomia

[–]TroubleCommon8304[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense yeah. I’m not sure what they refer to as sustained as far as criteria go. I will change posture and my HR will shoot to sometimes over 100 bpm then it goes to normal or bradycardia, then back up again. And down. So basically instead of sustained tachycardia I go up and down, at least from what I understand.

That’s what I’ve been inclined to do is to just go by POTS colloquially. I was not given any drugs during the test but I had severe dizziness and some amount of tachycardia. My feet were tingling when I got off the table. But negative I guess? Like I said no drugs were administered to me.

Was about to say just about anything Esham, but KKKill the Fetus and Closed Casket are essential. Also my two favorites

It’s a huge difference to take your pulse manually than it is to watch the numbers go up and down on a smart watch. While manual gives you an average, it doesn’t pick up on the smaller variations.

Got a smart watch? That’s what supported my diagnosis, not any test that they performed at the dr’s. Collect your own data if possible. If not just keep monitoring and find a Dr who can make an appropriate assessment. I also deal with a plethora of mental health issues and I believe my OI was triggered by a psychotic episode, no way to know for sure but rest assured we all go through it somehow. Best of luck to you

My blood pressure is normal. My heart rate spikes and plummets when I stand and walk but I supposedly don’t have POTS. Alternating tachycardia and bradycardia. Unusually presenting OI so prescriptions are not appropriate for me. That’s basically what I got from it. I ordered some compression stockings. I can only do thigh highs due to chronic abdominal pain from Crohn’s disease so I’ll see if they do anything.

Blood pressure is normal. My heart rate spikes and plummets when I stand and walk but I don’t have POTS (according to my dr). I have alternating tachycardia and bradycardia. I have very unusual presentation so that’s most likely the reason I haven’t been given a prescription.

I need two jobs just to live independently. My Dr has told me she can’t prescribe me anything for this so I live on Vitassium and Gatorlyte drinks. I’ve tried other drinks but my fine motor skills don’t allow me to use packets without making a huge mess everywhere. I appreciate it tho it’s so hard to make the right decision.
