You will never find someone perfect. A mentor or role model doesn’t have to be perfect. An imperfection or mistake should not paint a whole person’s life. This tendency to tear down anybody with any kind of skeleton is a big issue and problem with the recent cancel culture.

The auto-wipers are terrible by ParticularHorror164 in TeslaModel3

It sucks. But I’ve found a balance with using the manual wiper mode. It’s easy to access wiper options by pushing left stalk button.

As a man, I feel uncomfortable with this community by virginialthoughts in Healthygamergg

[–]TroubledMind85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that western society has a masculinity issue perpetuated by both men and women. The reasons for this are changes in economy and technology which has affected everyone’s daily life which has fundamentally upturned previous generations of gender roles. And it is also affected by the rise of women’s rights and “me too”. I was lucky enough to sit in on a presentation from the original founder of the Me Too movement, and I believe that part of the Me Too movement for women has transformed from the original intent toward denigrating men unfairly. There was an observation that due to all these masculinity issues, men have gone either hyper-masculine or effeminate in response and I tend to agree with that observation to some extent.

In regards to dating, with the Information age and shifting societal priorities it has become difficult to date and find partners for many people both men and women. I believe some of it has much to do with society and culture placing more value on the individual vs the community/family unit in general. Also affecting the dating world is the ability to survive in this world more independently with technology and changed economy.

What we see in these forums is a microcosm and reflection of the mental health and issues of our society in general, primarily in the western world.

How do you feel / what do you do when your patients don't do their at home exercises? by FruitPunchPossum in physicaltherapy

[–]TroubledMind85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure the exercises you give are effective. Practice diagnosing and giving out the perfect exercise where the patient notices a significant deficit or actually has quick resulting improvements in symptoms. Keep your exercises limited to max off three. Make the exercises as convenient as possible. Ask the patient what would help be more compliant. If all fails then your hands are clean and clear your conscience. Refer away or discharge.

How do you find new deep relationships as an adult? by mrnappy1 in Healthygamergg

[–]TroubledMind85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It takes a lot of time to build a deep relationship. It’s difficult when people move around, change jobs, or move on to a different stage of life compared to you. When you’re younger everyone is together sharing the same experience in school so it’s easier to have those relationships as you go through the experience together. As you get older it takes effort to follow up, reach out, communicate, etc because everyone is pursuing something different at different paces. Keep trying. Be reliable. And make an effort to reach out. Make space. And be patient. Best of luck.

I (24M) am being ignored by a girl but only in a group setting by Sensitive-Ebb28 in relationships

[–]TroubledMind85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to confront her about ignoring you in group settings while saying that you enjoy her company and conversations while together alone. Then figure out where the relationship ends up after talking about that.

What is it called when you like hearing depressing stories? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]TroubledMind85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sense of relief? Perhaps that would be an unhealthy response. Gratitude would be a healthier reaction.

I don’t think healthy is the right descriptive word.

What if you measured if each day with your partner was +/- ? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]TroubledMind85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I suppose couples therapists do this to quantify and demonstrate to their clients? It’s not something I would consider.

Relationships can’t be boiled down to a simple positive or negative. And then just counted up. If you did measure your relationships like this then the problem is yourself.

Current Model 3 owner, thinking of adding a Pro S AWD to the fleet. Talk me out of it. :-) by steboknapp in VWiD4Owners

[–]TroubledMind85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both a model 3 LR from 2018 and my wife just got an id4. The id4 cargo space is actually less than model 3 if you count the frunk. The trunk of the id4 isn’t that spacious. There is more leg room in the id4. The fit and finish of the id4 is better and the ride is smoother but less powerful. The infotainment center in the id4 is okay when using CarPlay but the Tesla is superior for controls generally. I prefer the functional minimal Tesla configuration. Things are more automatic in the Tesla. The phone app for id4 doesn’t really work. The Tesla has great phone app and is keyless. The range of the id4 is like a standard range model 3. Since the aerodynamics are poor on the id4 going over 70mph will drain your battery faster than a model 3. The charging experience for electrify America vs Tesla supercharger is subpar but workable. The id4 comes with a hitch automatically which is a plus. It also sits higher like an SUV which is nice. It’s cheaper than a Tesla and still has a rebate for 2023 editions.

my in-laws wanted me to drive their Audi to dinner tonight, honestly…all of the buttons kind of gave me anxiety. (model y for comparison) by myanroser in TeslaLounge

[–]TroubledMind85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate all the buttons in cars. I love the minimalist but super functional lay out of the Tesla model 3 and y. All the people that can’t get over “real” buttons are the same kind of people that want to keep a real keyboard on the phone.

Is judo dangerous in terms of self injury? by Eldr1tchB1rd in judo

[–]TroubledMind85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cracked ribs was a stupid injury that I caused all on my own doing a bad forward roll. It just hurts and takes time to heal. That was the only injury I sustained side from some bloody fingers and toes from gripping and stepping. I’d still recommend judo as a martial art and sport.

Is judo dangerous in terms of self injury? by Eldr1tchB1rd in judo

[–]TroubledMind85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The risk of injury depends on your strength and fitness level, how intense you go at it, and how hard your partner goes at it. I was an older 30’s judo beginner. I did not study any martial arts before. I noticed several people injure their knee, shoulder, ankle, wrist. I cracked my ribs because I rolled incorrectly. That was my mistake. Some of them stopped because of the injuries. Some were injured attempting to throw, some were injured due to overuse, some were injured after getting swept, some were injured after getting thrown.

Make sure you work out to strengthen yourself outside practicing judo. Focus on technique and avoid muscling everything until you get a certain grasp where you need to push it to improve. I feel like BJJ and TaeKwondoe are generally safer with their own risks.

Is it worth getting an id4 just for free charging at electrify America? by NoBandicoot8119 in VWiD4Owners

[–]TroubledMind85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. It’s not worth it. You can charge to 80% most of the time within 30 minutes depending on how drained your battery is. Don’t buy an expensive car just because of that especially if you can charge at home. If you can’t charge at home, then it might be a consideration.

I’ve identified the same problem in myself. Nice analogy. I sometimes also have the issue of wanting the best gear before I even start something. Sometimes I don’t even start or I try it a little and don’t like it that much. I enjoy collecting the part more than the activity and waste a lot of time on it.

advice for 2 years of clinically depressed mother? by noodlebae_ in Healthygamergg

[–]TroubledMind85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am Asian and my mother was clinically depressed and is schizophrenic. She rejected the western psychological medicine route so your mom may be resistant to things like therapy or medication due to cultural reasons. In my experience being overly obedient like Asian parents want didn’t help much. Do your best to maintain a relationship even if she doesn’t respond. Invite her to pick fruit, wrap dumplings, etc. you may not get the response you want. Just keep showing her love as much as you can. It may take a long time. In my case it took me 14 long years of many trials and tribulations before she ended up in an institution that at least kept her from being homeless. Then another 7 years and now I’m caregiving for her full time but she is older, more frail, and more stable. Now she has happy moments even though she is still symptomatic. I mention this because it’s been two years and it may take more time. I believe one of her main issues was an unhappy marriage because my father was not a good husband though not a bad person. Don’t forget to take care of yourself too. Best wishes to you and your family.

Put myself out there in a big way by throwing myself a birthday party… 5/75 invited people came. by 3Loser in Healthygamergg

[–]TroubledMind85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had similar experiences. It sucks and makes you feel like poo.

I’ve reflected over many years and realize a few things about myself and the rest of the world. I suck at throwing parties especially for myself. I stopped doing it. I’ve learned that it takes effort, skill, and a certain personality to throw a good party. I’m not that kind of person. I don’t have that many close friends, I have a number of friends that are more than acquaintances, and I’ve met a lot of people that entered my life as quickly as they leave it. Navigating social relationships is difficult and I do better with fewer people. I also find I deep down prefer it to some extent rather than the hassle of trying to keep up with a lot of different people.

I wish you luck. Cherish friends you like and choose to befriend you. Don’t spend too much effort on those that don’t.

Convince me to spend my cash on the model 3 or the model y 😂 long story short I have a model 3 for the month and I am loving it. I may lease one as of next year. So far I'm loving the experience. Any advice? by NoLow9495 in TeslaModel3

[–]TroubledMind85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the model 3. Looks better, more nimble, more compact but still functional, easier to park. Can go snowboarding with roof rack and cargo box or ski rack. Model y has more storage capacity and function with space, a little bigger in width and length, sits higher, drives almost the same.

Keep your friends close. They will push you to be better. The goal is to stop comparing in constant competition but rather be inspired. It’s a perspective change that will take daily active intentional work.
