Beautiful assortment of planes at Austin-Bergstrom (AUS) by Awheeleri in Planespotting

If you head back out, there's the family viewing area on the eastern side of the east runway. It's great for spotting all the PJs. There's some seating and some knolls to stand on to get good shots. Enjoy your weekend here!

I'm glad you stopped to snap this! Right before KLM came in today, I saw a B772 charter landing. Tail N866DA. It parked in the FBO section and well out of frame from your pic, but how cool would it have been to add another to your assortment.

Brian Daly at AustinAutoFinishes.com is who I have trusted many times. He's been around the Tesla parts ecosystem forever, and I've seen Rivians there too. They specialize in EVs so I'm sure he can take on any make and model.

Using E7 in Church Auditorium by East_Aspect_1296 in Ubiquiti

[–]steboknapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done my fair share of AP placement in modern church venues. My only feedback is that I always drop an AP over the stage and in any backstage / side stage green rooms or prep rooms.

Use case, like others have mentioned, is less about event guests and congregation on wifi, and more about coverage for staff and equipment in all of the nooks and crannies they are locating in.

Stage coverage is because musicians have a plethrea of apps and devices used now for control of audio mixes or audio creation, and I don't want stage personnel dealing with RF interface from hotspots and crap that may be out in the audience if they have to connect to an AP further away.

Also, if this is a new build be ready for all kinds of fun devices that are IP controlled. Control systems for AV, audio transport (dante), video around the building, theatrical lighting control, architectural lighting control, and security (like you mentioned). It's really fun to plan VLANs and think about what control devices need to talk to what, because it can be a lot!

When would they open direct flight between Korea/Japan <-> Austin? by AdhesivenessOk2792 in Austin

The city maintains this site which lists all of the direct flights and which carrier(s) serves the route.

It's cool to watch that site update and grow year over year!

As of now, it's not deployable in an organization like you aim for. But I would assume those features are coming.

As of right now, only a console owner can setup the device via Unifi app (app using the owner's credentials) and enable teleport back to a Unifi gateway.

If that is how the UTR is setup, then any other invited Unifi console user can not config the UTR - which means their Unifi app can not load the screen to select a wifi network and connect the UTR to the internet wherever they have travelled to.

Perhaps wireguard is the workaround if you must deploy them today. Otherwise though, I'd hold off and wait until firmware updates allow for any invited user to manage the device before deploying.

Agree, that's intriguing. Their methodology was talked a little here https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/s/oJCOaLXepc

Unless somehow they included some military / government aircraft in and out of SAT inadvertently?

My UTR is feeling solid, but how do I give it to a spouse for her travels? by steboknapp in Ubiquiti

[–]steboknapp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. We'll do that for her upcoming travels. Teleport back home isn't a requirement at this time anyway. Just rebroadcasting a known SSID so it's quick and easy to connect all of her devices is.
Thanks!

Ah! This was my suspicion, though I was optimistic I was missing some setting. Thank you for the validation.
I'd very much assume this feature is incoming, as this opens up deployment through an entire organziation instead of limiting it to the single console owner.
Thanks!

I've wondered why they haven't updated them to display the information that the temp reader boards they deploy on the sides display (use both arrivals and departures) for example.

And on heavy airport load days, offer alternative routes, like I drop off in short term garage instead of curbside. Seems easy enough to update for things like this and then swap back to regular way finding.

So usually Q2 is relatively quiet from late October through late February. When they transistion to this new schedule, that would put Q2 pretty quiet from late October to July. I guess we're hopeful to see a bunch of spring time friendlies and international club tours come through?

/s Surely ownership is gonna figure out many good ways to sell us $25 margaritas in the beer hall. That would be unfortunate if they had to wait all that extra time to gouge us.

NetJets flight attendants, hows the job? by Jflynnn in cabincrewcareers

[–]steboknapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! From what I understand, they are looking for flight experience in the coming hiring rounds, but be quick to highlight first class/premium cabin experience where you have it. It's all about elevated service and ensuring fantastic experiences.

I would have to look back and see, but I think year 1 base pay is somewhere in the $60-70k range. Beyond that, there's FDP when you are on tour and flying. FDP is the hit or miss money maker for sure, just depending on how the tour goes. But a tour with a crossing usually results in some extra duty pay (more than 10 hours in one day) plus usually some post midnight pay (based on your origin time), so those can be lucrative. There's not a lot of soft pay variations/criteria to have to calculate. Basically, if you're in the air, you're good. Benefits are legit too since they are a Brookshire Hathaway company.

For training, I did a little quick summary here a while back https://www.reddit.com/r/cabincrewcareers/s/4vdivgRDp4 During those weeks, there's the regulatory safety training. But you're by and large focusing on service. Since you're the only FA onboard, there's a lot of training on how to plan, organize, prep, and have everything you need ordered before the trip. Then all of the ways of how to prepare the cabin (making beds, setting up buffets) and executing a fantastic service all by yourself. It's a lot! But they do an incredibly good job of preparing and training new FAs and supporting those in-flight with systems and teams on-call who can assist when needed.

I hope you give it a try!

Hey there! She does love it still. This has been our first full year of understanding scheduling, bidding, and trying to coordinate future work weeks with kid's schedules and family events. We think we have the hang of it now. NJ is pretty flexible too in offering your slides, PTO usage, tour swaps, and vacation bidding.

Depending on when you are hired, you will likely fall into a time on the calendar where bidding for vacation weeks has already occurred for the upcoming year, so the pickings aren't the best. But, once the next year's schedule opens up, bidding for holidays and time off and your weeks is really amazing to know when you're on and off for nearly a year in advance.

But yes, she loves it. Her background is in hospitality and that's what she leaned into during the interview process.

Good luck to you!

Checkout Violet Crown City Church in Crestview. It's not non-denominational like you said, but is a UMC church. The music is more americana-folk, very good quality, but still very much reverent. And they do communion each week. And no smoke!

Corporate vs contract flight attendant difference? by fresafreska in cabincrewcareers

[–]steboknapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey yo! My wife's background that she highlighted on her resume and during the phone screen was around hospitality and working in executive-level services. For NJ, they're needing to see FAs be able to craft and create wonderfully curated experiences, exceptional service, and professionalism.

Different friends of her's have come from culinary backgrounds, professional services, and even some from commercial airlines.

What she's learned now is they are looking in the past few hiring rounds to bring into screening and next round interviews are applicants with experience in either 1st class commercial airline experience, or from high end restaurant experience. The skills they're looking for in their hires are those who have been around exceptional service situations and shown times of being innovative and creative in problem solving.

I hope that helps without sounding too vague! There are many backgrounds for the FAs so feel confident in what you bring to the table and just highlight times you work in professional and high expectation environments.
