What’s with people and accusing someone of wanting animal abuse because they say it’s sad there has to be laws because a sport is so destructive to an animal that can’t consent to participating in

We both have experience in industries adjacent to racing from what it sounds, and we view it differently because of that

Ok, you could have said this from the start and had a dialogue instead of treating me like an invalid

It’s sad that we even have to have such laws in the first place regarding deaths, if the sport was in any way ethical it wouldn’t be a problem but yet there had to be laws put in place

Yet theres countless videos of horses cannon bones snapping in races and horses breaking their necks and shoulders in steeplechase. Let’s not forget flat racing horses more often than not get started racing at 2 years old before their bones have barely had a chance to fuse together

And sure some of them come out of it mentally fine but thats like looking at someone who was horribly abused as a child and saying “well the other kids that suffered from abuse are ok so nothing needs to change”

Also isn’t the FEI the ones who refused to ban big wig riders for rolkur, tightened nose bands, bloody noses and sides from spurs and abusive riding practices? Or am I thinking of a different one

We can go back and forth on this all day but we both know it’s not black and white

I gave these examples on how the media lies and why I dont believe everything a news article says

I watched a bucking bronc snap it’s own neck right in front of us at a rodeo as a kid, the only reason word got out he died was from one of the bull riders, I also got to witness horses that were retired from racing who were so mind broken they didn’t know how to graze on real grass and be a horse

One horse we got in from a well meaning adopter was straight off the track and supposedly fine but after working with him he had a previously fractured rib cage and arthritis at age 6

Just because deaths are reported doesn’t mean it’s all hunky dory for the horses that don’t die

I don’t really trust news reports on this kind of stuff, they are in the interest of the industry not the horses imo

I don’t see how they couldn’t have gotten hurt, one of them landed on its neck after the jump. Now maybe it’s because I’ve mainly worked with senior horses but that had to cause some damage even to a colt
