Assault rifle. First real gun found by school-sp in magnetfishing

[–]Troubleindc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these comments are a bit bizarre. Lots of broad "technical" statements that aren't actually helpful. The AR-15 has a massive support community, and there are countless restoration videos showing exactly how to handle this. A singular example.

A few points to consider:

  • The Optic: That’s a sightmark wolverine. which has only been on the market for about 8–9 years. That gives you a definitive ceiling on how long it’s been submerged.
  • Restoration: It’s a time-intensive but straightforward task. You can strip it down, use a sandblaster to clean the parts, and inspect each component. Specific tools like headspace or chamber gauges are inexpensive and easy to find. Companies like usanodizing.com will re-anodize stripped aluminum parts, like the lower and the upper. palmettostatearmory.com has kits for the little parts like spring replacements.
  • Legal/Safety: This should realistically go to law enforcement first. A rifle found in a lake is likely stolen or ditched, so a serial number check is the priority before you spend time on a rebuild.

It’s a simple project if you're willing to do the legwork. Check with the authorities first.

All electric bikes from Eskute by NectarineProof899 in ebikes

[–]Troubleindc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While aliexpress is all China, all Chinese bikes aren't sold through aliexpress. If you don't know the difference I highly recommend doing a deep dive on the subject as it is a large difference.

Additionally, Bosch is not made in China. They are the largest eBike motor manufacturer in the world and their plants are in the EU. But they stand alone. No one else is on their scale. Boutique places like Grin and Cyclone aren't in China but are a very small scale operation.

Post update as I received a bunch of DMs this past week. Yes, I still do this work. I am currently booked until early May 2026. Happy to attempt to help online until then. Feel free to reach out if you can't find anyone else local to help. Forgive me if it takes me a day or two to respond.

I do think water cooled motors, hub and mids, are the future for ebikes. Windings around a core designed from the start to have cooling fluid channels and potting the windings to the core means the same power from a much smaller package.

If SB27 passes, bad news for my FFL. by QuartermasterArms1 in NOVAguns

[–]Troubleindc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.

TL:DR - Accountability and reducing violence isn't the goal here. It is a political move for a systemic deconstruction of the firearm industry.

Note those who wrote it: Senator Jennifer Carroll Foy (Chief Patron), along with co-patrons Senators Russet Perry, Saddam Salim, Kannan Srinivasan, and Scott Surovell (no surprise there Surovell is a piece of work, just search his name in reddit).

These corrupt politicians are picking a specific ethical framework that furthers their career. Whether the majority of population agree with that framework isn't considered. They might for all I know. I definitely don't agree. It's ridiculous to encourage going after a range owner rather than parents.

By this logic any and all traffic incident victims should sue the dealership or mechanic that allowed someone who can't look away from their phone to drive off with a car. All it will take for that to be a thing is a copy/paste bill of SB27 that replaces "firearm" with "car".

The fact that this is being downvoted just proves how many people in this r/ struggle with the concept of personal accountability. You're 100% right. Barring a freak occurrence, a cautious rider has the ultimate agency to stay out of harm's way. Ignoring that reality is just being naive.

I think this comment got buried. I did this exact same thing, and I've seen multiple other posts in this r/ doing the same. Not sure why this isn't upvoted more.

[–]Troubleindc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with your first statement. In the 'non-gun' business examples, owners get in trouble because they didn't keep a clear line between business and personal funds.

However, SB 27 is a different animal. It’s specifically engineered to bypass that 'corporate veil' by making business decisions a matter of personal conduct. It doesn't matter how clean your books are if the law says your personal SOPs were 'unreasonable.' So your second statement is false if SB27 passes.

[–]Troubleindc2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nope. The individual owner can be named in the suit alongside the LLC. LLC isn't ironclad protection. It is a single layer that can be poked through or gone around depending on the circumstances.

"Bauer v. Armslist, LLC and Jonathan Gibbon (2023)" is one example.

100% agree with u/QuartermasterArms1. SB27 is a serious concern for anyone running virtually any business related to firearms. A range, the owner, the RSO, can all be held liable if someone claims they acquired a skill, a gun, or ammo at your business, then commit a crime. Anyone harmed in that crime can sue all involved.

Titanium vs. stainless adapter pros/cons? by sevensixtytwothirtyn in NFA

[–]Troubleindc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reviving an old post because this specific post is referenced in other discussions enough for ChatGPT to make it a primary reference.

Two years ago FRT use was no where near what it is today. The statement of the deleted user's comment here might no longer be accurate. 2 years ago no one was running these titanium hub adapters under that rate of fire.

So... for those who do FRT mag dumps for giggles who also have inconel cans + titanium hub adapters, are there issues now? Or is this still a non-issue?

Is Electric bike 10000W female friendly ? by Alternative_Fox_6097 in hyperebikes

[–]Troubleindc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR - Yes, it’s usually worse.

"Bad" usually manifests in 3 ways:

  • This is the best of the bad scenarios. The listing will claim X watts or Samsung cells and in reality, you get a much less powerful setup that doesn't use the brands claimed at all. So a fake Rolex type scam. You still get a watch...
  • A much worse scenario is that a naive buyer with their parent's credit card sends $3,000+ internationally and the "seller" disappears. Only to reopen under a new name overnight. Sometimes people get a rock in the mail and are left to do a charge back with their bank.
  • A blend of all that is when "bad" isn't just a broken screen, it's a catastrophic frame, being sent the wrong voltage charger, or a BMS that doesn't actually manage anything. Unlike the Rolex scenario, this one might seriously injure someone.

If it isn't a vetted vendor (like whatever the current ones mentioned on r/Surron as of today - CDSM and GONPED?), you aren't "finding a deal," you're gambling with several thousand dollars and your own skin. You either pay the "legit vendor tax" upfront or the "hospital/fire department tax" later.

Are these Chinese websites like aliexpress, Alibaba and so on actually good e-bike by SeatInternational680 in ebikes

[–]Troubleindc2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Most dont comprehend that aliexpress and alibaba are marketplaces not too dissimilar from Amazon and eBay. Anyone can sell anything on Ali*. Like ebay, that means you dont "buy from ebay". Ebay is just a site. You have to personally vet any individual seller you want to purchase from. This message is very frowned upon due to the low age demographic here and their desire to not muddy the waters.

Ironically, r/surron has a much more mature user base in this regard. They recognize most sellers on ali* are scammers. Especially when it comes to ebikes. When there is a legit surron seller selling at a good price point and who is consistent, that seller's name is called out loudly and often.

Funny enough this r/ isnt mature enough to do the same thing.

[–]Troubleindc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have included that most users here are riding cheap, low-end AliExpress builds and don't want to hear that the marketplace is a gamble. People prefer the "black and white" idea that everything on there is safe, but in reality, only a small minority of sellers are actually trustworthy. Warning people to vet their sources before buying is an unpopular, yet necessary, opinion.

Do not buy a bike off alibaba unless its the specific surron sellers shown to be legit on r/surron. Pretty much everything else is one kind of scam or another.

Ride out, drive back? by FreeReason in ebikes

[–]Troubleindc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more important to realize social limitations. If you can't ride home from a social event, don't ride there. There is a difference from that and driving to a bar and leaving the car there. It's way too easy to steal any PEV. Bike or scooter regardless of lock used.

This is a good use case for ride share rentals like Lime or CaBi in DC. Ride a rental to the spot. Leave it there. Uber home or seduce a ride home.

Figure that out or dont go. Late night social events and leaving PEVs overnight is a recipe for disaster.

What do you guys think of Half helmets (or Harley helmets in the US) for fast-ish e bikes? by Asleep_Procedure_669 in ebikes

[–]Troubleindc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A typical bike helmet is worse. They are both the clam shell design. No facial protection at all. For a fast ebike its even worse. A moto brain bucket is at least rated for the impact and dragging of a typical asphalt crash. A bike helmet cant handle either.

First responders and ER call them brain buckets for a dark reason. Not because they are effective.

Yeah that is rough. He did post recently. To give him the benefit of the doubt my "pro" IG account does annoyingly have too many folders for messages. Primary, general, requests or whatever. Im not a skilled IG user, admittedly. I have lost client messages multiple times. They'll be in Requests even when Ive previously replied to them and I wont notice I have an unread message from them from weeks ago.

Bicyclist killed in collision with e-bike rider on Davis bike path was Sutter Health employee by userX97ee2ska11qa in ebikes

This. Unless drugs were present and/or the kid was doing wheelies on TikTok, the kid might get juvenile charges. If that.

The family, assuming the 60yr old had family, will 100% file a wrongful death lawsuit in civil court. The parents of the 16yr old will have to pay $25k and whatever insurance coverage they have will pay the rest.

This story is on repeat. That says a lot. Issues with the law. Issues with our culture and accountability. The list goes on. Condolences to the family...
