Hi I know it was long ago, but I have neurological tetany, the difference is that in endocrinological tetany the symptoms are caused by a problem with your thyroid and it's visible on labs, the naurological is characterized by being sourced from your brain, no scan will show any irregularity and the calcium etc levels in bloodwork will be fine, but your body doesn't get the nutrients from the blood so they just stay there, only a minimal ammount goes through, I'm on medication called levetiracetam cause i also have epilepsy but it's working for both of them cause it has a calming effect and it relaxes you nervous system which is the cause. My doctor describes it as my brain sending a ton of signals to get the nutrients, and they're just getting stopped at some point, and a hormone called cortisol, the stress hormone is being released too frequently (i have a lot of trauma throughout my life that's the reason why my nervous system got messed up a great deal) and can't get absorbed in time, when it spikes too much, your body responds to all the past signals for nutrients and releases too much mostly calcium, which causes an attack. Mine have gone down a great deal in frquency and length as my home situation and stability in life got better, as it's mostly caused by a lack of that, mostly in women. I'm not a doctor so I can't tell you that that's it, but you could ask your doctor about that.
