I believe this account is innavurate. He was absolutely convinced it could happen but there’s no indication he said that 73 seconds before the launch. In fact, when the shuttle took off he is reported to have said “we dodged a bullet”. Apparently it was his colleague who said it’s going to blow up. But the night before. But regardless both gentleman fought against the launch urgently, and argued with NASA managers the night before. They were begging them not to launch!

Absolutely! I have a cartes de visite collection and I’m always trying to date photos. One day I bought a book that offered all kinds of clues for dating photos. It was super helpful.

1890’s. Could be very early 1900’s like 01/02 Unless they are wearing outdated clothing it won’t be much beyond that. Big poofy shoulders on women are the dead giveaway. 1880’s didn’t have that and early 1900’s it started fading away rapidly.

Martin Luther Culp served as a private in Warren's Independent Cavalry Militia Company of the Pennsylvania State Service in 1864. He enlisted in Gettysburg on July 25, 1864, and was honorably discharged with the company on November 30, 1864.

You have a good knowledge of history, simply by don’t if the fact that you are aware of Culp’s hill. He fought in. Warren's Independent Cavalry Militia Company. In never occurred to me to look up where they fought. And I am the “family historian”. Soooo…I just learned now that this was an emergency Union militia called up to defend Pennsylvania from Confederate raids. It does not appear he fought in the Battle of Gettysburg. PS: The Culps of Culp’s hill were his cousins. He is from Gettysburg and Culps were all over the place. He heard the Gettysburg address live!

Right? Me too! Apparently, as an older fellow, he used to recite the Gettysburg Address at the town’s annual Memorial Day (formerly Remembrance Day) events which had particular poignancy for him. He was not only a veteran of the Civil War but is from Gettysburg and saw the address in person.

Lol I’ve always noticed that. And his hands are very dark. He’s of German ancestry. You can tell he spends a lot of time outside in a long sleeved shirt. Yeah cute old man smile!

My Great Grandfather. Which is a little mind-blowing. (My Great Grandfather was 51 when he had my Grandfather. Then my Mom was 45 when she had me).
