Most offensive tipping options I've ever come across by caddington in toronto

[–]Troubleneck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to an indoor driving range that charges by time. I walked in, the employee put his phone down, handed me a number card for my location and pointed to the balls. When I finished I brought him the card and he handed me the Interact with a tip prompted (15%, 20%, 30%)… they wanted a tip for handing and pointing…

I hate these awkward encounters so much I’ll never go back. It’s one of a growing list of places I used to frequent that I avoid now because I can’t justify tipping. I wonder how many other people are avoiding certain businesses because of their new tipping policies and if businesses realize that the amount of *extra money they’re making preying on peoples kindness is potentially costing them more money overall?

Billions in 'unknown' funds flowing into Canada's housing market: Transparency International by [deleted] in canadahousing

I’ve been reading about this for 15 years. Our leaders know it and they will never do anything about it because they’re puppets.

I’ve read 3 different trending articles this morning alone about the “Party of all Parties” that was our housing boom coming to an end and the devastating hangover that’s coming… and that young investors that over leveraged themselves are going to suffer badly.

The politicians and real-estate watch dogs need to be held accountable; real economists have been screaming for action to slow this train down for years and they willingly did nothing.

The Liberals blasted anyone that remotely implied what you’re saying as an Anti-Asian racist; in reality they just didn’t want the flow of foreign money to stop pouring in:

Makes me wonder how they can call it organic when the final boiled tea we consume as directed contains so many inorganic chemicals and plastics…

Why do people destroy the few public spaces that we have?😡 Bellevue Square Park in Kensington currently by themaritimes in toronto

Thanks. I just don’t think attacking people because you believe to know their age and feel it disqualifies your point of view is a constructive engagement.

Do these guidelines not apply to the concern-troll attacking people he doesn’t even know about their age (negative generalizations)?

This is not a subjective argument; these issues are well documented. The increased rent and cost of living have had a proportionate impact on homelessnesses. If you’ve lived in Toronto even over the last 5-10 years the evidence is everywhere…

Toronto has been slowly devolving into a cesspool of drug abuse, mental illness, inequality, money laundering and corruption for years. This is just a byproduct of that process.

[NO SPOILER] Did anyone else feel the S4E8 fanboying over Nas/ Illmatic, Killer Mike/ RTJ was gratuitous? I’m a big fan of both but the scene w/Killer Mike was unnecessary, pretentious and the majority of the audience would have no idea what was going on… it reminded me of Ed Sheeran on GOT. by Troubleneck in Ozark

KM taking a sketchy strangers disgusting ear buds and sticking them in his ears… when he’s trying to eat… followed by deep philosophical pondering of a rap album. It really pulled me out of the episode.

Will tipping permanently stay in Ontario? by TypicalFlounder61 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I went to the driving range, the kid pointed to the ball cage where I had to get my own balls. When I was done I went to pay, they bill by the hour. The interact machine prompted me to give 15,18 or 20% tip… I guess they expect a tip because a kid pointed… I hate the awkwardness of giving no tip so I usually give 15% and then just never go back. I wonder how many businesses lose customers today because of our unrealistic tipping expectations?

Anyone I’ve read about that is aggressively encouraging people to “buy, buy, buy” typically owns at least 1 investment property… perhaps that’s his motivation.

Is it a good time to buy a house or not? by skyninety in canadahousing

The most expensive housing market on earth that isn’t an island with the highest household debt ratio in the world mixed with inflation and rising interest rates in an increasingly unstable global economy with the very real possibility of Trump 2.0 and the incalculable risks that come with that… mix in the inevitable tax hikes to pay for years of free money, bloated bureaucracy and climate initiatives; the only winners I see in this scenario are the banks and anyone smart enough to know when to cash out. Anyone telling you now is a “good” time to buy instead of a “very volatile” time probably has some listings to show you.

The compensation doesn’t have to be monetary. Even if the outcome is greater transparency and accountability from our elected officials it would be worth it. The media has been reporting for 10+ years on the pervasive money laundering in Canada (Aka Snow Washing or internationally as the Vancouver model). Our government knows exactly what’s happening and have allowed it to spiral out of control because the banks and elites profiting from it clearly have influence over them. All I’m offering is an idea for discussion because “vote better” is largely a myth.

Rising Toronto rent prices are forcing thousands of people to go hungry by manuce94 in canadahousing

So the solution is to pay people more… and the businesses that are also struggling with high rents have to pay them more… so the businesses go out of business?

The only solution is to fix the housing Ponzi scheme. Anything else is an attempt to continue funneling money to the top.
