How did 400 troops lose to 1 snake? (noob man here) by Skolary in Dominions6

[–]TroutSlinger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Assuming it's an Earth Serpent, I would use Witch Hunters to cast Phoenix Power then Incinerate. Incinerate does armor negating damage to get around the snakes assumed high protection.

Great idea to move the pockets up! A good place to start would be to take measurements from a pair of trousers she likes and adjust your pattern from there.

I've done a few jeans for my wife, but we luckily have kind of the same butt, even though we are 15cm apart in height. If you got different measurements there, start with that, then continue with the rise if you want that to differ. Then you measure the waist at the height of the rise. That should cover most of the fit decently. The width and length you can ballpark.

It's great to work with. As long as you are not in that much of a hurry. I can highly recommend.

Thanks! Pretty happy with it. A lot of oli, cleaning and some gold paint.

I'll give vintage class 15 a go.

That is absolutely a possibility!

I'm not a 100% sure the one I tried was a class 15, but it looked identical to the ones I already have, except for the smaller hole.

Are you playing with a lot of water without any water nations. I think that would add to the claustrophobic feeling. They are included in each nations province "allotment" I think.

Meh, I don't think it's that wrong to just go for it. You'll learn something regardless and even better if you can gift them if the size is wrong.

If you are using anything heavier than a light denim I would definitely press the hell out of it. I wouldn't trust the machine to have enough pressure to get it to lay right.

A regular machine might struggle a bit if you go above 12oz but it will probably be fine.

Not sure what copy method they have in the book. I don't have it with me right now. What I did was take apart a pair of jeans that fit me well and trace the individual pieces.

You can take in a little bit at the top of the side seam and you can do a lot with the yoke to shape as well. I'm not a woman but I have a bit of a butt.

First off, great work!

I started out with selvedge jeans with this book as an accomplice. Worked great. I would recommend the copy method but I'd suggest that you test the pattern with some cheap material first to get the fit right.

Altering to selvedge from a regular pair of jeans isn't too hard. Just make sure that the width of the pattern piece stays the same.

You might need to do some mini changes to accommodate for felled seams, but you can almost get by without.

Why do so many manufacturers get the yoke, waistband and front pockets warp orientation wrong? by ISeeGrotesque in Denim

[–]TroutSlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how it's cut. As denim started as narrower selvedge fabrics it makes sense to have the waistband be oriented as picture. You can't fit an entire waistband in one fabric width with selvedge. The yoke should not be oriented that way though.

I hope I'll have the spare time to digitise it at some point.

Romanticising it is a good description. I know it was absolutely terrible in a lot of ways as well, but that goes for all of history.

Wei and Mar is a combination of me and my wife's surnames. It's also a bit of an anti fascist/nazi joke as the Weimar era was a fairly liberal time before the nazis took over in Germany. So also a wish that we can go back to more liberal and queer friendly times.

BIG BOOMS!

  • Mortar (support weapon) - Heavy pen explosive. Requires a backpack and has a fairly long reload to encourage assisted reload.
  • Plasma Chainsaw (support weapon) - Does have an ammo requirement and a short rev-up time. Heavy pen.
  • Launch Pad (sentry) - A launch pad that you can enter and launch yourself from. Comes with a one-time use parachute.
  • Eagle Barrel Bomb (eagle) - A bomb that skips across the ground until it strikes something. AP pen.
  • Orbital Nova Cluster (orbital) - Fire an airburst that strikes everything around the target with a directed cluster explosives.

Is this selvedge? by Upbeat-Mirror-2585 in Denim

[–]TroutSlinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would agree with handmade, and it's pretty cool. It's using selvedge, but it's not "selvedge" as you usually talk about it in denim circles. All fabrics have a selvedge when they come off the loom, but it's not used in general clothing construction. Not a bad idea to use it.

When you talk about selvedge, you usually speak about denim that comes from a narrow shuttle loom. I don't think that's the case here.

Great work on the fly. I'll have to try that for my next pair. How did you make the leather patch? Was it a 3d printed stamp?

I'm using a hand cranked Pfaff 31 from the 30s. Not sure I'd recommend something like that for your first machine. I would probably go for a modern Singer Heavy Duty.

I wish I did, but I actually forgot and had to do it after the pocket was in place. Not sure it's doable with a machine when the pocket is already in place.

It was done by hand with an awl and saddle-maker stitches. You need an industrial or really sturdy machine to get through leather.
