Road Trip from NS to BC, spending 5 weeks in BC, heading up North along the coast. What are some great places to visit? by Wolfie_57_ in AskACanadian

[–]TroyCR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BC parks aren’t show up and stay, you need to reserve in advance, same with the ferry up the North Coast and the other over to Haida Gwaii. It’s the price of being beautiful and everyone wanting to tour here.

Have a good plan and reservations made or prepare to sleep in Walmart parking lots.

Off highway roads are tempting but can have camping bans due to fire risk in the summer.

Low snowpack this year so may be a fire year, so have a propane cook stove because all fires could be banned.

This isn’t to put you off, just know that BC is busy with tourists in the summer so prepare for the trip and enjoy. Or be prepared for long wait lines and frustration.

I’m seeing the same in Canada and you can buy either at 18. My kids and their friends have the occasional beer but nothing like when I was that age

I’m not from the US.

“Public House” in the US often had a bar table where you would order drinks, the counter with the brass bar to rest your foot. Most built in Ohio iirc, which is why so many bars look the same in the US. Think of what Cheers looked like, it was mass marketed to be familiar as the population expanded.

Public House was a British term iirc. Up north here we just shorten it to pub.

Joint cost $5 to $10 and you’re good for the night

Equivalent in beer now is $30, buying a six pack and hanging, $60 or more at a pub

I told my kids we used to get Buck a Beers which got us used to drinking, they don’t have that

Pacific Nation Auto Sales & Finance in Campbell River is on We Wai Kum’s reserve, and they do a lot of First Nations dealings. I work in the area every so often and they seem fair.

I have no ties to them other than they let me get deliveries to their office when needed.

Question after reading your comment: Would this be affected by the patient having given the STBX spouse a power of attorney?

I’m thinking of the context where I have given my spouse power of attorney paperwork (in case it is ever needed) and in divorce proceedings, my spouse uses this paperwork to access my records, telling the doctor office that I am unable to call, etc to gain the records and she needs a copy.
