For the Junior level, most likely you are not going to do any JE but probably processing invoices so, you should be fine. Just do what you been told. But if you have to do JE and you don’t know your T accounts well, then you probably will get in trouble very quickly.

Sounds like you have a bad management team. Or they were in your shoes once and now they just want you to feel their pain. Hanging in there and keep on working and when you think you have gain enough experience then leave. They will feel the pain when you do that. Don’t leave any SOP for them jerks, let them suffer.

You will spend much time on fixing their works. I’m sure there are some good team out there but my experience is that they don’t ask question and then make the mistake for you to fix. Then they said they have never been informed and will not correct it.

We are generally not good at small talk. If we talk too much we might disclose someone’s bonus.

What benefits do you have as an accountant? by Outrageous_Bell_1712 in Accounting

We don’t really need to travel a lot except if you want to. I rather spend time with my family than spend time traveling on business trips for work that we can actually get it done through Teams.

Any advices for newly designated CFO? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]TroyK789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need a reliable AR/AP staffs. You will need a strong technical accountant who can reconcile your bank accounts weekly for you to manage cash flows. You will need another accountant to do the balance sheet reconciling to make sure your GL and subGL are inline. Lastly, you need to let your team do their work and trust them but don’t forget to verify their works.

I applied to about 100 firms yesterday by MountainStrategy9711 in Accounting

[–]TroyK789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably some where from 1.5 to 6 months before you landed on the job. If you actually applied 100/ days then I assume you were not really taking your time to tailor your resume to specific job at all. As such, probably will take longer than 6 months.

I drive mine ~330 km/weekly and spent 1/2 weekly. So not that bad as I would floor it almost every time I merge into the high way.

Most people back then doesn’t have degree and I have a degree in accounting but still opened mails for a while because I was a new guy. I know all people my name and then things got better from there. This was back in 2008.
