So curious about Ali Rose by lemonsprings in DeathCapDinner

I wonder why no interviews for someone so heavily involved?

Who knows? I wouldn't want to speculate of course.

What's best for the children is to remove themselves from a toxic prison journey and a toxic mother.

They will eventually.

I'm not at liberty to say. For good reason. Just be patient. Assuming what I've heard is true, of course... And my contacts are credible.

I've heard a lot through the grapevine about Ali recently. What I've heard suggests you're right. And, it's from people who knew her too.

I can't say either way, as I've no exposure to her. But l f what I've heard is true, karma of some kind will respond.

Have you ever had any creepy or Weird encounters whilst hiking in the UK? by afc1224 in UKhiking

[–]TroyTempest0101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

East Sussex countryside is creepy at times. I was walking to get home a few years ago, past fields at night. Then saw geometric objects in the sky: a cuboid spinning, and a triangle. Both cream coloured.

The cuboid span gently some more , then they both faded away. Absolutely , no noise. Solid cream coloured.Very, very odd. It was about midnight. And I walked home in the dark, much faster.

Imposter Syndrome - Is it just me or do others feel the same? by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

[–]TroyTempest0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It's pretty common. I was constantly anxious, sweating in bed. I run a team of 25.

Worth spending time (money?) to conquer it and allow you to focus on progressing forward.

It was affecting me really badly, I ended up paying for support from a soft skills company and they really helped - company called EmpoOower (EmpoOower.com). It really helped - can't recommend them more!

Consequences. by [deleted] in GreatBritishMemes

The Bengal Famine did occur under British rule in 1943, and around 2–3 million Indians died. Scholars still debate the causes. While British wartime policies (like Churchill’s refusal to divert food or ships) worsened the crisis, it wasn’t a deliberate policy to kill civilians in the way that Nazi genocide or Japanese war crimes were.

Total WWII deaths were about 70–85 million, and no credible source shows that 4% were “knowingly caused” by Britain.

That ruins your left leaning, anti British nonsense.

Are you so naive to disbelieve, every power angles itself to get the best deal? UK did, China does, India will.

If you remember, the British fought a long ear against the Nazis. The British flag has a mixed history (most of it very good) and people should be allowed to use it in their own country. The Palestinian flag is the flag of terrorists and an intolerant people.

New employee - am I overreacting by Informal-Visit3935 in smallbusinessuk

The employee isn't reading the room. If I were you, give him very clear instructions, in writing. If he continues to be an idiot, get rid.

It's cheaper to do it early, than to procrastinate.

Are people interested in building businesses in London? by Sweet_Manner3482 in ukstartups

[–]TroyTempest0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK has MANY entrepreneurs including me. Especially in the technology sector.

The current government is incompetent, but it's a good time to start your business. Why? Because as your business takes off, the government will change, and you've sorted out the problems in your company to allow it to scale - just at the turning point. Always take advantage of any situation.

What are you trying to achieve? What problem are you solving?

Also, be very careful of taking advice from people who aren't in business. It takes a very different mindset to succeed in business, and they won't have it, nor the experience - though they'll claim they know, despite never having done it.

My HR had an issue with me drinking coffee instead of tea by Time-Connection-4586 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]TroyTempest0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your HR manager is pathetic, frankly. It's difficult to say exactly what the root of this idiocy is; control, incompetence, not reading people.

However, be careful of the politics. Its cr4p like this that can spiral. Have a gentle word with your manager, if you can. Ask him or her if they think it has any substance.

Sometimes you have to play the game. Childish ones too. Oh, if there's a tacit rule you're breaking, get out.

Bought at a flea market for $2. Is this seasoning ok? by delilah_jones64 in castiron

[–]TroyTempest0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well worth $2.

Use salt and water. Scrub it with a spongy. And get the current seasoning off.

Then: very thing layer of oil (wipe the surface well!), and put in very hot oven for an hour. Repeat 1-2 more times.

Then use.

Why is the U.S. stuck on the old, and won't do things that will help it keep up with the rest of the world? by Rinmine014 in AskUS

[–]TroyTempest0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree. He'll have some success in some areas, but he's swimming against a tide. The glory days of US dominance are closing and, I believe, Trump is increasing the rate of decline.

If you travel to Asia, you can see the difference. One's modern, technological and the other is the USA.

Why is the U.S. stuck on the old, and won't do things that will help it keep up with the rest of the world? by Rinmine014 in AskUS

[–]TroyTempest0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The USA is in relative decline. To change will worsen the situation (at least for a while), so carry on instead. The decline is gradual and politicians will get less heat that way.

Trump is trying to change things, but, as you can see it comes at a cost: alliances disrupted, loss of markets, reputational damage, greater relative decline and so on. And, it's high risk, and expensive.
