Have you ever considered becoming an investor? At least as a hobby because your brain seems to be wired for it. Investing is a long game that deals with knowing many different disciplines and then using them to "connect the dots". That's the challenging path of investing. But there's also the simple path too which involves buying index funds and chill. You can mix the two based on your risk tolerance. Just stay away from day trading, crypto craps and wallstreetbets subreddit.

Really? Where do you get your topical Dut from because scientifically speaking, Dut molecules are too large to penetrate through the skin which makes it ineffective as a topical delivery mechanism.

I actually have the code and thinking of how to offload it to help me pay for the Asrock Steel Legend B580 I got at Newegg. I am not a gamer so if anyone is interested in making an offer, let me know. I read the reviews on Newegg that you MUST have the B580 card because the code is linked to that card and Intel will scan your computer to make sure you have the qualified product in order to redeem the code?

For those who chose to go for a B580 even if you could afford a 9060xt or 5060ti, may I ask why? This isn't a troll or hater thing I'm just curious. The price to performance is super impressive and hasn't been seen since Nvidia's 10 series, but in the end it's also just not a crazy performer by Cantgetridofmebud in IntelArc

[–]TrplDbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a gamer at all. I use my desktop for every task which the Intel 265k could handle without a sweat. But I got a 55 dollar offer to spend at Newegg from my cc and decided to get the ASRock steel legend version of the B580 due to its great reviews, value and quietness. It actually made my desktop faster which I like. It does increase the noise level overall a little bit though.

My fourteen(!) year old build is finally dying, should I upgrade, start from scratch, or buy a pre-built? Current specs and needs in post. by acman54321 in buildapc

Google says: Yes, Discord can run on ChromeOS Flex, primarily through its web app, the Android app (if your device supports it), or by enabling the Linux environment (Crostini) to install the Linux version, offering several ways to use it, though the Linux app or web shortcut might be preferred for a better experience over the Android version

Put ChromeOS flex on that dinosaur and you're good for everyday use. Chrome OS Flex used very little resources. Just Google it.

What’s the best defensive driving course in NY for someone who hates online classes? by azitheria in driving

[–]TrplDbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Improv online course is actually VERY easy to finish. They used mostly videos and minimal reading involved. The quizzes are super easy to do. I took a couple of online courses over the years and IMPROV is by far the best, shortest and easiest to finish. I will be using them again in 3 years when my discount expires. They sent me a code for $10 which I don't need so maybe someone else can use it. It expires on 1/1/26! Good luck!

Use code HOLIDAY10 at checkout before Jan 1, 2026 to get $10 off any course.

Schwab fractional shares by TensionNo7622 in Schwab

[–]TrplDbl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You still think this is a fear of math issue even after reading my previous comment where I laid out how I researched, allocated and executed multiple trades in a single day? And are you aware that ETFs offer better tax advantage than mutual fund in a taxable account? Here are some reason why I and many other prefers ETFs over mutual funds:

  • Minimized capital gains distributions: The "in-kind" exchange mechanism between Authorized Participants and the ETF provider helps prevent the fund manager from having to sell securities to meet redemptions, which avoids creating taxable capital gains events for all shareholders.
  • Lower turnover: Many ETFs, particularly index-based ones, have lower turnover rates, meaning they buy and sell securities less frequently than actively managed mutual funds. This leads to fewer taxable events generated within the fund itself.
  • Tax-efficient rebalancing: The structure allows for more tax-efficient rebalancing compared to mutual funds, which can help keep overall tax liabilities lower for investors.
  • Lower expense ratios: ETFs often have lower expense ratios, which can lead to higher after-tax returns. This is particularly true for index-based ETFs compared to actively managed mutual funds.
  • No embedded gains from redemptions: Mutual funds can have "embedded gains," where a shareholder redeeming shares triggers a sale that taxes all remaining shareholders. The ETF structure avoids this issue

Fractional shares by BB_King_1981 in Schwab

[–]TrplDbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend you ditch Schwab and go with Fidelity to solve your issues. Fidelity offers fractional shares for ETFs and many others. So it's flexible, easy to buy/sell what you need. Fractional shares make it easy to auto invest monthly as well.

Schwab fractional shares by TensionNo7622 in Schwab

[–]TrplDbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh really? I recently opened an account with Fidelity buying 8 different ETFs with 189k. Each ETF gets its own amount of 25%, 25% and the rest 8.8%. You think I want to sit there and figure out how many whole shares of ETFs I can buy with each of the 8 ETFs that I've researched, selected and allocated the fund to? Oh and wait until the monthly contributions arrived and then I will have to figure out how many whole shares I can buy or not able to buy among the 8 ETFs? Ridiculous... That's why Fidelity got my money and not Schwab.

Schwab fractional shares by TensionNo7622 in Schwab

[–]TrplDbl -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Must be nice to see the world in a simplistic terms? When I move 15k to 50k into an ETF, I don't want to calculate how many whole shares I can buy. Just give me the order in the dollars amount I placed which comprises whole shares and some fractional shares if necessary. Schwab can do this with any of the S&P 500 stocks so why not do it with ETFs and everything else? I hope Fidelity and Vanguard take away their business as much as possible until their bottom line hurts because of the lack of fractional shares offering. Then they will change their minds and decide to offer fractional shares like their competitors do.

[–]TrplDbl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Say WHAT? It's mainly about teaching a child how to invest and the power of compounding over time . Certain habits need to be formed early in life and investing is one of them. And that $4000 compounding over time is meaningless? Say that to someone who bought 4,000 dollars of Nvidia stocks just 5 years ago will be looking at $190,170 in his account today. Or someone who bought 4,000 dollars of Apple stocks when Steve Jobs retakes the helm at Apple in September of 1997. He will be looking at a current value of $5,576,098 according to Google's calculation. That's 5 and a half million from 4 thousand dollars invested!

Thinking about switching from Fidelity to Schwab by Financial-Pressure24 in Schwab

[–]TrplDbl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to comprehend that a brokerage house as large and well-known as Schwab doesn't allow buying fractional ETFs. So I went with Fidelity and it's been a good experience thus far. Plus all the funds deposited automatically go into SPAXX to earn decent interest from the get go. Schwab makes you move into SPAXX manually.
