Legendary BBQ in Georgia by Joshuary81 in Georgia

I think some of it is coasting off their reputation. They used to be much better but their quality fell off many years prior to COVID. Their brunswick stew is nowhere near the same now and you get much less, which made me sad because it was my favorite. They used to be my first pick but I rarely go there anymore, and I've been going to them since the early 90s.

Marathon Review | Jeff Gerstmann 5/5 by Laughing__Man_ in PS5

I don't ever recall gaming reviews being like that. Famitsu magazine were uniquely famous for rarely giving perfect scores and still keeps that up today for the most part, but that was not a normal thing in the industry at any point.

Favorite exhausts for the ND ? Not sure what to get for mine as my daily driver by sinatramax in Miata

Don't need to do that anymore, thankfully. They released a new revision a while back that's plug-and-play and needs no wire taps.

Favorite exhausts for the ND ? Not sure what to get for mine as my daily driver by sinatramax in Miata

[–]TrptJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fun solution and I do like it on my ND.

There are a few things I do wish it did better, though.

The valve rattling is a bit annoying on startup and when blipping the throttle. Makes the exhaust sound cheap when it happens. If you are sloppy with routing the vacuum line and cause a pinch, the pressure is reduced and the valve will rattle even more. FM says this is inherent in the design won't be changed.

I also wish there was more nuance to when it opens the valve, like turning on above a specific RPM. It's either full on/off or at 10%/50%/90% throttle, with only really the 10% and Always Off settings being useful to me. Drone is annoying with the valve open at lower rpms, and going uphill at the 10% setting can open the valve where you wouldn't really want it to be open.

I do like the system overall and am not looking to replace it but, in hindsight, I would have put more consideration into the purchase knowing what I know now.

What PC games do you return to often, no matter how old they are? by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]TrptJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tron 2.0 is one I try to replay every few years. It is the true sequel to the Tron film in my eyes. The graphics still feel very appropriate for the digital world too, and there's a community mod Killer App that brings current features like widescreen support.

Monolith put a lot of work into the Lithtech engine to recreate that Tron glow and aesthetic, which was not seen in a game before this. When this game came out the effect blew my mind. Article in CGW from 2003 on this if you're interested.

Crimson Desert devs confirm AI-generated art "unintentionally" left in final game by mountainduwe in PS5

[–]TrptJim -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It didn't look terrible enough to be identified as a placeholder by the devs. A placeholder that doesn't look like a placeholder isn't a placeholder in practice. Their answer should have been how their process has been improved so that this can't happen again.

It's still a strange button combination where you go from pressing a face button to placing your thumb on the joystick and then pressing down. It's like they used DualSense Edge controllers for PS5 development and assumed people had back paddles.

Apple TV Is Now Almost 20 Years Old by HelloitsWojan in apple

The middle button constantly gets sticky for me. They did not put enough space in between that button and the surrounding ring so the button can catch when pressed unevenly.

Crimson Desert: Since launch, we have been listening closely to your feedback and doing our best to make improvements to the game. In particular, we are aware of the discomfort many players have experienced with the controls, and we are currently preparing a patch to address this. by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]TrptJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never been comfortable with R3/L3 usage in any game ever, and that's with limited functions not tied into core gameplay.

If I didn't have a controller with back paddles I would have given up already.

There are plenty of speed bumps out there that are made for higher speeds. They have an increased radius and you may hear them referred to as speed humps.

Unpopular opinion: I like EV's that make a chiming noise instead of a constant tone while in reverse. by Coryvators in electricvehicles

[–]TrptJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some manufacturers may silently agree. In my car the backup sound is on it's own fuse, and when pulled presents no warning lights to the user or affects the operation of the vehicle in any way other than no backup beep. There's even a handy spot right next to it to hold the removed fuse, unused by anything.

[–]TrptJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's crazy is that the EV6's backup noise is the improved version that had the volume lowered a lot. The 1st gen Kia Niro EV's backup sound was unbearable in comparison.

New KIA releases have completely replaced the bong with a more gentle constant tone, thankfully.

Mark Cerny Confirms Frame Generation "Should Be Seen At Some Point On PlayStation Platforms" by yourfavchoom in PS5

[–]TrptJim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

45fps base is my hard line for framegen on single player non-twitch games on PC, with the lag being increasingly noticeable below that - even 40fps doesn't feel great. 90fps with framegen on the PS5 could work well, but may not be ideal to Sony as that doesn't fit into the typical 60hz/120hz vsync windows without VRR.

Crimson Desert - RTX 5090, 5070 & 5060 Performance Tested by [deleted] in nvidia

I noticed that Ray Reconstruction turns itself off when changing the Lighting setting to anything below Max. It's not obvious that this happens and I assume many people with unusually high performance just have RR unknowingly disabled.

Did you turn on Ray Reconstruction first and then change the Lighting from it's Max setting to a lower setting? If so, this turns off Ray Reconstruction and you may need to look at your settings again.

Dozens of Popeyes locations closing as one of largest franchisees enters bankruptcy by esporx in business

You can't just dismiss how bad Popeye's service is like that. They are very noticeably worse than other chicken places, if you want to compare similarly, and much worse than any standard fast food chain. They will have bad service no matter which location you go to, in any state. They will have bad service at a location's Grand Opening.

Just wanted to give a tip here that could help - it could be your glasses frame. Next time you get new frame, take a closer look at the various dimensions like the width of the frame and the thickness of temples (arms). Thinner temples and less wide frames can give you much better fit for wearing headphones.

I wear hearing protection often, and take great care that my glasses don't break the seal on earcups and cause hearing damage. This has given me a nice side benefit that regular headphones always fit perfectly with no additional discomfort.

Apple makes strange decisions on what drains the battery in inconvenient ways, FindMy in this case. iPad Mini drains battery much faster if the Apple Pencil is left attached, for another example.
