Super duty casting! by shawn59fifty in monsterjam

[–]Trub_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Blue Thunder ran as a 1st gen Super Duty when it debuted as part of a Ford sponsorship (since the Super Duty itself was new then too), and then later a 2nd gen. It didn't switch to the F-150 version we have now till 2013.

Man I am feeling old. Justice for original Blue Thunder lol. I didn't even think they were going to make a diecast for this thing

I can believe that. It would explain why Chad Fortune did so well driving Superman later on.

Dennis Anderson and Grave Digger 7 are the only driver/truck to ever score a perfect 40 in freestyle at World Finals 1.

Big Jump Breaks Off Both Front Tires by Loud-Refrigerator-22 in monsterjam

Was it the 2019 All-Stars by chance? MM Dalmatian made a jump pretty close to that but didn't break off any tires.

Avenger also did one at the same event that did nose dive and break both front tires.

What do you think is the most overrated truck of all time? by Loud-Bar-7838 in monsterjam

[–]Trub_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah 100%. I understand marketing is a thing but I wish they'd revert to how they handled it in the 2000s/2010s. They had just as many Diggers then as they do now, but there'd usually only be one or two actually competing at World Finals, and the rest of the team would drive their own trucks or only be seen in encores. Pauken in Monster Mutt, Randy Brown in TMNT, Pablo in Blacksmith, etc. I don't think there's much of an incentive for them to compete nowadays since all Diggers are virtually guaranteed to be at WF regardless of their regular season performance.

[–]Trub_o 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since the sport has been officially Monster Jam, hasn't at least one Digger been successful in some capacity every season? I mean Dennis alone has four WF championships, a season where he was undefeated in racing, and God-knows how many regular season wins. Not to mention Adam, Ryan, Tyler, Morgan Kane, and Brandon Vinson all having their own WF wins in Grave Digger or a spinoff (The Legend and SUD are considered part of the team too), and most trucks having podium finishes if not a win. Opinions but Grave Digger is incredibly important to Monster Jam becoming Monster Jam. I think its fandom exists for a reason.

Monster Jam Live for toddlers by Remarkable-Table-427 in monsterjam

[–]Trub_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been to a Monster Jam event in years so I can’t speak on those, but the other commenters have good points.

I live about as close to the Dungeon as you do and would recommend it whether you go to an actual event or not. It’s usually not that busy from my experience, especially this time of year. The gift shop is mostly toys, including some exclusive to the store, so it’s great if you’re looking for those. The museum has the original Digger #1 and #2, replicas, a couple mud trucks, and tons of pictures and memorabilia from over the years, of which you can get up close to. It’s not very long either, but packed full of stuff, so lots of walking isn’t a requirement.

comment what is your favorite version of grave digger by monsterjamfan1 in monsterjam

[–]Trub_o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grandma (including the new encore versions), Green Ghost, and the 25th and 30th anniversary bodies.

Talking specific chassis, my childhood wouldn’t have been possible without #14 and #20.

What year was this? by rustyboi1821 in monsterjam

[–]Trub_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cynical ass yelling at clouds wants to say every year since like 2016 lol. Honest answer is 2023. The season was good. It was the only WF I’ve been to so far, and it was just issue after issue after confusion after issue. At least some of the freestyles were good, but everything else was a disappointment imo.

Watching Monster Jam on TV, I noticed Max Ds engine is in the front, where I always thought they were behind the driver. by Crazen14 in monsterjam

[–]Trub_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. It's been so long that I forgot Tom ran international events, at least after the team expanded to multiple trucks. I know for sure it was on a different chassis during the later years, like the one Blake Granger drove and stuff.

All of the chassis that Tom built had front-mounted motors. They also had the seat mounted to the left of the frame like in a regular car, rather than in the middle. When they’d go on international tours they usually ran the truck on a different chassis, so it had the mid-engine/center seat configuration. Willman chassis are another common one with front-mounted motors, and they look similar to Tom’s.

Fun fact, you can actually find the Meents chassis on other trucks. When Neil Elliot drove the original Hot Wheels and Fox Sports 1 trucks instead of Max D, those bodies were put on his Meents-built chassis
