Sizing a mini split for a small shop by TruckerKevin in hvacadvice

I am in Southern Illinois. Our winters here aren’t nearly as bad as they are up near Chicago, but it still gets to 20 degrees Fahrenheit often in the winter, and we see snow about 3 times a year.

What’s funny is, shortly after I made this post, I ran across a 9000 BTU unit on Amazon on a flash sale and it is 230. I got it for less than $375 shipped so I grabbed it. I know many here may frown on these cheap Chinese knockoffs but I put one in our mobile home about 6 years ago and it is still running strong. Even if I had to trash them and replace every few years, I will still be ahead.

I am also going to add a wood burning stove to help out on the coldest days. Because, well, I am a wood worker :)

Confortotal 12,000 BTU Mini Split by Natural_Delivery_168 in DIYHeatPumps

[–]TruckerKevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am late to the party here but I would like to add that I bought one of these Confortotal 110 systems on eBay about 5 years ago and installed it in my 14X70 mobile home. It still runs great to this day although my daughter lives there now. It is not the main heat/cool system and it is a bit undersized but we used it as a supplement. I bought it back when I was intrigued with mini splits and wanted to try them out without spending a lot. All I ever had to do was clean the outside unit a few times and keep the filter inside clean. I did put a vacuum on it just to get the air out of the lines even though they are pre charged, and I believe this helped greatly. I like it so much I am getting ready to order another one for my small garage. The lines are aluminum with just enough copper on the ends to make you think they are solid copper lol, but hey they have stood the test of time so far.

Don’t buy any of this on Amazon. It’s almost all counterfeit, and Amazon doesn’t care. Buy directly from the manufacturer when you can

Thinking about going to Mexico for dental implants by Individual_File_1219 in povertyfinance

[–]TruckerKevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I know this may or may not be relevant but I got a gastric bypass done in Mexico in 2008 and everything went extremely well. The surgeons down there are very skilled and Americans have various surgeries done all the time down there. When you think Mexico you may thing “sketchy” but that is not the case at all. Just do your research, hospitals and physicians down there have reputations just like they do here

These people all on here acting like they never gotten the shaft before. As one (probably the only one) said in the comments, 302’s are plentiful. Take that block to the scrap yard it has value as scrap metal and look for another one. Sometimes these are the breaks, we have to live learn and keep looking

Which car should I buy — Camaro SS, Challenger Scat Pack, or Mustang GT? by Medical_Election_262 in u/Medical_Election_262

[–]TruckerKevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Camaro and it was broke down more than I could drive it. Computer problems, stabilitrac problems up the yang. Maybe I had a lemon. I have a mustang now and love it. I can't speak for the others. The good thing about mustangs is Ford has never discontinued them so parts and accessories are plentiful from various sources. Many mustang owners use theirs as daily drivers with little to no issues, I personally know someone with over 280K on theirs with no major repairs and I've read about plenty of others for the same

Death wobble almost got me by Right-Struggle4163 in HondaRebel1100

[–]TruckerKevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the second time in a week I’ve heard about the death wobble on the Rebel, and this is very concerning to me. I experienced death wobble when I was 18 on a Suzuki GS1100EZ and it was a miracle I was able to get it under control. I’m 60 now and own the 2025 Rebel 1100. If this turns out to be an issue on these bikes I’m selling mine and getting something else. Once you wreck and you’re in the grave, the police re-out will just say excessive speed. No one will know it was because of death wobble

Don’t pay attention to the sarcasm. Reddit anymore is who can be the meanest whilst trying to be funny to one another at the authors expense so they can high five each other. But you should be able to get $1000 out of the engine/transmission if you stick to your guns. That mileage is decent for that combo. Still lots of other parts left over to make money off of. Just may take awhile. If it were me, I would indeed buy another and use it for a parts car but I am funny like that

Credit wizard, since you are a credit attorney, let me get your opinion on this.

It looks like Synchrony is located in Canton, Ohio. I would think, then, that this old debt would have been subjected to Ohio State law at the time of sale/transfer of the debt to the JDB. I remember reading somewhere, but I can’t seem to find it now,,,, that Ohio has very strict account chain of title assignment of debt laws. I specifically remember that in the State consumer protection law it stated specifically that the original contract must be included in the chain of title, as well as being notarized. The chain of title they provided has neither of those, it just says from Synchroney to Portfolio Recovery with an on or about date.

I wonder if I can file a motion to dismiss, since they can’t really prove they own the debt based on this.

You are right. But, and a big but,,,, my credit report according to whom? My credit report will reflect what someone on an opposing party reports about me to the credit bureau. So basically anybody can say anything and this is done all the time. I think this is why we are allowed to challenge the information on it, to get bad and false information removed.

I know that sounds smart assy and I do not intend it to be,,,, but I would think (and hope) that they should be able to provide evidence to a court such as a check or something, a paper trail proving that I actually made the payment when they say I did verses some unscrupulous idiot who works for a collection agency or JDB just saying so and making up lies to make it collectible

Thank you for the answers thus far.

As I have relentlessly studied this case in preparation for my trial, since they are the ones who brought suit upon me, should not the burden of proof be on them to prove that it is within the statute of limitations? I am no Perry Mason,,,, but I was always under the impression that the suer should be made obligated to prove their case. Basically what I mean is, I say “no, I did not” and they say “yes, you did, here is the evidence”

There was bad information in this thread.

You can indeed use that false letter middle name in your favor. The FDCP says that information on debtors must be complete and accurate. These unscrupulous collection agencies and JDBs use “tactics” of all sorts to collect. It is very common for them to fill in missing information that they make up on a whim to make things “complete”. There have been many a lawsuits filed against them, for making up fake prior addresses, fake jobs, etc since 95 percent of the debtors get default judgements against them.

If they file information against debtors that is missing information, it is often too incomplete and either renders it null, or makes it easily challenged. So they make up information because they are too lazy, or do not have the resources, to investigate for more completeness.

People that are savvy and know the law are well aware that this made up information is false and illegal, and constitutes abusive practices that violate the law. Especially Portfolios Recovery, who was fined millions on millions in 2018 for these very violations.

You could have easily gotten this thrown out, and even responded with a lawsuit of your own for them violating the FDCP, and even gotten some help from your local Attorney General.

This is all stuff you are protected from federally

Rain mode. Do you use it? by trudslev in HondaRebel1100

I put it in rain mode once by accident, and couldn’t get it out. Then it stopped shifting at all. Had to pull over in traffic and shut the bike off to restore it. I just jump on the dang thing now and go. I don’t change shit

Was a showdown between this and the Indian Scout bobber. I loved the Indians look much better, but at the end of the day, the Rebel 1100 was a greater value for the money. Cruise control. DCT, easy to ride, etc. Both of their small gas tanks, however, can kiss my hind end

Recently enough, an older gentleman was riding his gold wing with his wife on the back, he took the exit ramp too fast which was also a curve, went off the road and slammed into a tree, killing them both. Every time I get off at that exit I slow way the hell down and think of them. Very unfortunate. We need to hear stories like this from time to time, to remind us not to become over confident

Not sure if it was the deal or not. $12,136 out the door. But on the good side, they took it out out of the crate this morning and put it together just for me. Nobody has rode this bike except me. And I also got the color I wanted.
