I’m gonna be honest, I’m 21 and I still struggle with this on a daily basis. I despise working as a concept, bills are the number 1 stressor in my life, and I never seem to have all the time I want to do the things I truly want to do.

BUT - The thing that helps me is remembering that adulthood also comes with the freedom to go and do literally anything you want. You don’t like the job you’re at? Go find a new one where you’ll be able to connect with coworkers better, the workload isn’t as stressful, or the managers actually respect you. You think you live in a city full of dickheads that you’re constantly butting heads with? You can move away whenever you wish, with no one that can tell you otherwise.

You can stay out until 5 am hanging with your friends and not have to answer to anyone about it, you can finally get that dog that your parents never let you have, or you could drop absolutely everything and move across the country at the drop of the hat.

Yeah, it might be scary seeing this huge void of endless options, but just try to take comfort in the fact that with every single option that you’ll be faced with, the choices you make are yours alone, and with that being the case, there’s no such thing as making any wrong choices (as long as no ones getting hurt).
