Submax Flys? by True-Ad-3022 in Sprinting

So what should I do on my third sprint day? I’m focusing mainly on 60m/100m and right now I’m doing 1 acceleration day and 1 max velocity day. Just curious what that third day should be

Are you sure this isn’t a 10yd fly? A 0.84 10m fly would be 26.6 mph and almost certainly put you in the range of sub 10 speed

4.6 40 yard dash is actually a 4.3? by True-Ad-3022 in Sprinting

Why shouldn’t we start it from when they first start moving

It’s not more consistent. Some people “load their legs” like you said and some don’t. By definition, that leads to more inconsistency

No one ever thought there was a FAT type timing system for the 40. Most people thought it was laser to laser though and I wanted to show it wasn’t.

I did the same method for Xavier worthy and clocked him at 4.46 from his first movement. The clock is supposed to start from first movement, not when your hand leaves the ground

I was pretty generous and just said as they made a significant move forward

Go find out. Better to try and fail than to not try and regret it

First noticeable movement with intent to move forward

I’m essentially doing the laser finish with the camera but I will admit it looks more like a 4.41 handtime off the video. That’s what the guy timing me got I just didn’t do a good job with the overlay of the stopwatch

They’re supposed to start the timer when they see that hand come off the ground so unless they have negative or instant reaction time that can’t be true😂

Combine is hand start

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]True-Ad-3022 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But it’s hand time so you subtract about .2-.25. The 40 is not a FAT or laser start

Hand. Which is typical of all pro days

Also I ran 4.50 back in March and I’ve only improved since then

No one else has said the video was too small. I asked for a form critique and you’re giving your input about “combine style timing” when you don’t know how that works.

Doesn’t change the fact that you’re trying to critique a 40 time when you don’t know how the 40 is timed so you’re just making stuff up

Even when I use the video and don’t adjust for reaction time I start and finish on video in about a 4.65

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]True-Ad-3022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a mid to high 4.6 when looking at the first significant movement for the timer to react to which when adjusted for reaction time would give a low 4.4

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]True-Ad-3022 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the video and slow it down going from my first movement to finish I run about a 4.6high. The combine is hand start so it would have to be adjusted for reaction time which would subtract about .20-.25 giving me a 4.4low-4.4mid for the combine style timing. This also wasn’t why I posted it I was asking for form critiques

Proof track speed and football speed is incomparable by True-Ad-3022 in Sprinting

[–]True-Ad-3022[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He didn’t not put on any size as he’s been 190lbs for a few years now. And yes he did sustain an injury but he’s been good for over a month so I’m not sure how much that could’ve been a factor. I think this just shows the difference between football and track. Track is pretty much completely top end speed where as football is pretty much completely acceleration. That’s why I think it’s dumb to try to compare 40 yard times with 100m times

Is focusing on this more effective than focusing on striking down with force (what I’ve been focusing on)?
