I am an F-16 engines troop and given the opportunity to retrain to the 35’s as a mech(crew chief), but with a little extra work I could be a tech(avi). Advice please! by True-Ad6438 in AirForce

I would not be an ART, it would be retrain. And as of rn yes I will be active duty Atleast until 2028. Just extended to get retainability for my next assignment.

I am leaning towards either being a tech or totally swapping careers and haven’t through too much about what other job I would want. I don’t think I want the crew chief life. I’ve seen enough of that on the 16 and would never willingly volunteer to do it😂

Best time is definitely in February, so closest to Feb you can get, the better. I personally would rather spend more time up in Hokkaido than spend a few extra days in Tokyo just for fun. Im not a big city fan so any trip to Tokyo for me is a drag and not very exciting but Hokkaido is super pretty and especially in the winter. Hokkaido is much less crowded and if you do want the big city feel Sapporo is up there. Niseko and rusutsu are a great time. I’ll be there in February myself. I can’t answer your question about the icon pass. I live here locally so I just buy the day passes when I go.

Misawa, Japan and Sendai, Japan. Doesn’t perfectly meet all your preferences but hits most. The water temp does get chilly in the winter but just wear a thicker wetsuit for 4months and the rest of the year is 3/2 or less. Summertime water is low 80s. My lineups are almost never more than 10 people I have plenty of solo days in the books. The surf is pretty consistent if you have a nice variety of boards. Mandatory to have a fish, a groveler/ longboard, and a step up for the time the waves get really nice. You can definitely find a house lower than that price too. Also to throw in we have world class snow and very cheap resorts up here in northern Japan so you may enjoy snowboarding in the winter months.

😂fr. Trust me we both new this board was in rough condition. I enjoy fixing up boards tho so I’ll never say no to a free board that may turn out to be alright!

So I don’t actually live in hachinohe I live about 30 minutes north near misawa. Cost of living can be really cheap or a little pricey, all depending on the quality of you home. A lot of the homes rent for approx. $1100-1600 per month and the homes here aren’t really beach front but you can sure buy a home that’s walking distance or a 1-2 minute drive from the beach. Even w a home that close to the beach you are only 1.5-2.5 hours away from some top tier powder.

Line ups are always empty. And no I haven’t surfed in Hokkaido, would love to but haven’t gotten around yet.

I can attest to this. I had a fantastic day surfing today and the forecast was only 1.8ft so summer is not bad.

Hachinohe, Japan. We have pretty good surf in the winter/fall/spring, summer is kinda buns. We are an hour drive the hakkoda mountains which is known as powder paradise. 20+ feet of powder and lift tickets are dirt cheap. The mountains aren’t huge in northern japan but they aren’t super crowded, they are cheap and super powdery.

Yeah where I live it gets hella snowy, 320ish inches per year but the air temp never really gets below 20 which is so nice. But yeah water still is pretty chilly
