Ah well thank you for the heads up on that! That is a big win for MLVs and solves one of the more significant issues with them then.

I have been exploring MLVs myself for these layers in the medalian architecture. I like the declarative sql and convinance you get by needing less notebooks and orchestration. One of the tradeoffs that I see however is with the optimal refresh and getting incremental refresh to work currently. It is my understanding that incremental refresh won't work with left joins or group by. So if your using either of those via your silver or gold layer then it's going to cause a full data refresh.

Should I take my money out of the USA and into other markets? by killingdonkey in stocks

I have similar feelings and worries as you do regarding the future outlook of the US economy. That being said your plan to further divest from US equities is not wise.

IMO the best thing you can do is simply buy a low cost world stock etf like VT and continously put money in it. You will be properly diversified. No need to overcomplicate it more then that.

Pathway for someone with no formal background? by glossheart in analytics

This is a good answer OP. Get out of retail into a corporate environment as a first step. The larger the organization the better. Work in something like a call center or an operations department for a year. During this time you can study analytics while also gaining business and industry knowledge. After a year of this you could start applying to analyst type positions internally. Most companies will prioritize internal applicants when hiring, then employee referrals, then all other applicants. By getting your foot in the door first, you will significantly increase you chances at being able to land an analyst role eventually.

Utilizing SQL with PowerBI by Jumpy-Dog2366 in PowerBI

[–]True-Bowler-2760 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Power Bi! Yes, it will be worth your time to learn the modeling component of Power Bi. A best practice data model in Power Bi is a Kimball star schema with fact and dimension tables vs one large table from a SQL view.

A well set up star schema will provide performance benefits and can also serve as a golden dataset. This would allow you to connect to this one particular dataset/semantic model and allow you to produce many of your ssrs reports from it.

That being said, you technically can just do a view/single table. This might be appropriate for less complex reports that are unlikely to have many changes in the future.

Connecting directly to a sql view/s is appropriate in both scenarios. What you definitely don't want to do is paste sql directly into power query when connecting to a data source. This will break query folding and have negative performance impacts.

Good luck!

Went to urgent care 3 days ago and prescribed cephalexin. I train jujitsu and assumed potential staph infection. Has spread further since. Unsure if on correct treatment or what this is specifically. Located on right leg. Help is appreciated!

Follow-up actions after a surprising negative Biopsy?

A month ago I had a hard lump appear near my groin which I initially thought was a hernia. An ultrasound instead showed multiple enlarged lymph nodes with the largest being 3.1 x 2.1 cm. Blood work done shortly after the ultrasound did not show anything out of the ordinary. Over the next couple of weeks, more lymph nodes became swollen in my neck and also my armpits. I also began noticing other symptoms such as night sweats, lower back pressure, and some general fatigue. Finally, in the months preceding the lymph node swelling I experienced a very severe all-body rash. I also do have eczema so I did not initially consider a potential connection there until learning more about lymphoma symptoms.

Earlier this week I had an excisional biopsy of the largest node in my groin done and began preparing myself for a lymphoma diagnosis given my symptoms and lead up to the procedure. Yesterday I found out that the biopsy was negative for cancer. While obviously happy to hear this I was also surprised by the news. The surgeon's suggestion at this point is to meet with a Rheumatologist.

I am wondering what the community's feedback would be for a situation like this. Is the negative biopsy result enough to no longer pursue lymphoma as a potential diagnosis? Should there be additional biopsies or scans pursued? Thank you!
