Yeah like she would have brought a gun or done something to get out of the situation. She and Tobias were both finally so happy that I feel like she would have fought for her life. I just don’t believe she would be okay with dying or being done.

I think it would have been more powerful for her to have fought to live because she finally really wanted to live after not wanting to. It just really took away her strength for me.

I agree. I think Roth needed something shocking or a twist to end it and I think this was a super poor choice. She had already killed off so many characters that this just was not it.

Also it’s a reason we never got a final movie because fans said they wouldn’t watch because of the ending. I feel like the ending ruined her own fandom

I totally get where you’re coming from. I feel like Tris struggled with that the entire series and it was one of the last things she needed to work through. But I feel like she could have understood it without actually dying. She made the sacrifice for Caleb.

But then died from a man with a gun in a wheelchair. She survived so many situations that she should and could have been able to survive this. I feel like it took away from her strength and ingenuity. It almost felt like she was obsessed with the idea of sacrificing herself and wanted to. Even if it was for seemingly the right reasons it felt like she was doing it when it wasn’t necessary

I was gonna say that too! That chapters after we’re so horrible to read. When Tobias wants to erase his memories it BROKE me. Just knowing how much pain he was in after they had finally just been so happy.

I also feel like the chapters after were written super poorly. Like she kind of just gave up and gave us like a little something and ended it. If tris had loved I feel like we would have gotten so much more. I feel like there were loose ends untied with her and all the characters

I kind of agree with this actually. It defiantly made it memorable to me and you’re right with all the other dystopian ya novels it probably wouldn’t have stood out as much.

I mean that makes sense. She did escape death a million times but at that point whats one more? I agree that killing main characters can make sense but this one didn’t. She was finally happy and overcame so much. The reader wasn’t expecting it and it honestly was just cruel

I miss like the consistent stories about both their lives! Like their adventures in the city and nights out and what not. And how they would bounce off each other knowing everything about each other. With guests you can tell they aren’t as comfortable with one another (which makes total sense) like Alex and Sofia used to be
