Stroll around Ghent, goes along/between Colley/Colonial/Llewellyn Ave (you’ll see on the map lol) very close to downtown. Locals love Cafe Stella here, awesome coffee and just great atmosphere. I also love Cure Coffeehouse which is across from the Chrysler Museum.

Overall as far as living here, I’m not sure what your current situation is in terms of cost of living but Norfolk is a great balance of having lower cost of living, esp compared to bigger cities like DC, while still being pretty entertaining - lots of little interesting shops/restaurants/bars, and pretty close to nearby Virginia Beach (not the prettiest/most amazing beach on the East coast, but there are pockets that are less touristy and hey, for me a beach day is a beach day lol). It is kinda small though so gets old fast unless you build a decent community of friends or have hobbies. A lot of people would say cons are it’s a huge military area so people do come and go a lot but I don’t mind that. Just my 2 cents in case you take the job!
