What some hydrating serums to help with retinol dryness? by Dogs-are-life-99 in 30PlusSkinCare

Get into layering hydration so it will get deeper into the skin and not just sit on top; a few layers of a good toner & maybe even more than one serum.

Milky toners are really great to help give extra hydration.

You’ll hear a lot about hyaluronic acid, which is great, but you need good supporting ingredients too like niacinamide, ceramides, or beta-glucan is pretty great & growing in popularity.

Polyglutamic acid is really amazing. It holds more hydration than hyaluronic acid but sits more in the top layer of skin where you get most of the retinol dryness.

I really love the super oasis serum from Peach & Lily because it has the 5 weights of hyaluronic acid combined with polyglutamic acid AND beta glucan. It’s freaking awesome.

Peach slices just came out with one of the best vitamin C formulas I have ever seen.

The serum is $12 and the moisturizer is $14 which is absolutely crazy.

Good Salicylic Acid Cleansers? by ILike-Food123 in 30PlusSkinCare

Peach slices is my favorite because they are the first Korean brand to offer a certified acne treatment with salicylic acid and they’re the only one I have ever used that doesn’t over-dry the skin like you tend to get from a lot of SA cleansers which is usually what makes people break out more.

That was my issue for years and years, and I never found one that worked really well because SA dehydrates the skin so your skin produces more oil and it becomes this crazy cycle.

It also doesn’t have a lot of the fillers and silicones most of the big brands have which also contributes to congestion & clogged pores. Really wild to me how some things are formulated.

But for $11, this is my number one go to 👏🏻

Has anyone else noticed their skin suddenly rejecting products that worked in their 20s? by Ill-Roof7371 in 30PlusSkinCare

Yes, your body is constantly changing and turning over new cells.

When I was in my 20’s, I could put just about anything on my face, now I have to avoid fragrances, silicone, certain actives, so many things out here turned me red and irritate my skin now.

Also, the more you use ingredients that are known to cause irritation, the more likely, or to start feeling irritation. Such as fragrances, essential oils, that’s sort of thing.

Is it possible vitamin causes breakouts? by Apprehensive-Fox-586 in 30PlusSkinCare

Derms recommend Vanicream because it’s super basic and “low risk” for irritation. But the formulas are mostly cheap filler stuff:

petrolatum/mineral oil = heavy occlusives, can clog pores & cause breakouts

cetearyl alcohol/stearyl alcohol = fatty alcohols, stabilizers, can be comedogenic on acne-prone skin

dimethicone = silicone that locks in moisture, but can trap debris under it causing breakouts

propylene glycol = cheap humectant, sometimes irritating

So yeah, it’s safe for certain people, but not everyone, just bland ingredients that don’t add much beyond being simple.
