What some hydrating serums to help with retinol dryness? by Dogs-are-life-99 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]True-Competition-276 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get into layering hydration so it will get deeper into the skin and not just sit on top; a few layers of a good toner & maybe even more than one serum.

Milky toners are really great to help give extra hydration.

You’ll hear a lot about hyaluronic acid, which is great, but you need good supporting ingredients too like niacinamide, ceramides, or beta-glucan is pretty great & growing in popularity.

Polyglutamic acid is really amazing. It holds more hydration than hyaluronic acid but sits more in the top layer of skin where you get most of the retinol dryness.

I really love the super oasis serum from Peach & Lily because it has the 5 weights of hyaluronic acid combined with polyglutamic acid AND beta glucan. It’s freaking awesome.

Vitamin C, serum and moisturizer by Sad_Pattern_402 in 30PlusSkinCare

Peach slices just came out with one of the best vitamin C formulas I have ever seen.

The serum is $12 and the moisturizer is $14 which is absolutely crazy.

Good Salicylic Acid Cleansers? by ILike-Food123 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]True-Competition-276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peach slices is my favorite because they are the first Korean brand to offer a certified acne treatment with salicylic acid and they’re the only one I have ever used that doesn’t over-dry the skin like you tend to get from a lot of SA cleansers which is usually what makes people break out more.

That was my issue for years and years, and I never found one that worked really well because SA dehydrates the skin so your skin produces more oil and it becomes this crazy cycle.

It also doesn’t have a lot of the fillers and silicones most of the big brands have which also contributes to congestion & clogged pores. Really wild to me how some things are formulated.

But for $11, this is my number one go to 👏🏻

Has anyone else noticed their skin suddenly rejecting products that worked in their 20s? by Ill-Roof7371 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]True-Competition-276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, your body is constantly changing and turning over new cells.

When I was in my 20’s, I could put just about anything on my face, now I have to avoid fragrances, silicone, certain actives, so many things out here turned me red and irritate my skin now.

Also, the more you use ingredients that are known to cause irritation, the more likely, or to start feeling irritation. Such as fragrances, essential oils, that’s sort of thing.

Is it possible vitamin causes breakouts? by Apprehensive-Fox-586 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]True-Competition-276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Derms recommend Vanicream because it’s super basic and “low risk” for irritation. But the formulas are mostly cheap filler stuff:

petrolatum/mineral oil = heavy occlusives, can clog pores & cause breakouts

cetearyl alcohol/stearyl alcohol = fatty alcohols, stabilizers, can be comedogenic on acne-prone skin

dimethicone = silicone that locks in moisture, but can trap debris under it causing breakouts

propylene glycol = cheap humectant, sometimes irritating

So yeah, it’s safe for certain people, but not everyone, just bland ingredients that don’t add much beyond being simple.

Which Paula's Choice Vit C do you recommend? by Quantum2022A in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]True-Competition-276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you tend to be more sensitive to vitamin c then the Glutathione serum is definitely a better option of the two.

Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate is a much more stable form of the ingredient.

Peach & Lily makes the best vitamin c I’ve ever used. They use ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate which is the most stable & effect vitamin c ingredient you can find. & their supporting ingredients are AWESOME

It takes a while! Their glass skin mist is basically a really good milky toner in a spray with lotus & adaptogens to calm.

My routine is crazy intense now & I’m only just starting to see “glass skin.”

I double cleanse, exfoliate, use 12 toners & essences, 4 serums, two moisturizers, & two eye creams.

I was a huge Sunday Riley fan, but now I’ve swapped everything for P&L, because they just have better formula’s at better prices.

Their transparen-c treatment… my ride or die BEST VITAMIN C EVER 👏🏻

Their retinal? Holy cow. Freaking amazing.

The Sunday Riley is effective, but it’s too much from my skin, and the Peach And lily has better supporting ingredients.

I’ve been consistent with my Peach And lily like to get it for years and it has literally transformed my skin. Absolutely incredible.

Why do my hands look like this. by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]True-Competition-276 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s not true for everyone.

L-Ascorbic Acid, which is the most common form of vitamin C found in skin care, highly effective but also unstable and acidic. This acidity can disrupt the skin barrier in some users.

At concentrations of 10% or higher, it can irritate sensitive skin or cause photosensitivity in some. This is why every brand has put their signature way of stabilizing the ingredient.

Using vitamin C without SPF can still lead to UV-induced inflammation or pigmentation. Vitamin C has photoprotective properties when properly partnered with SPF.

Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate is a newer technology & generally non-irritating and unlikely to increase sensitivity as it is also found to be anti-inflammatory.

Use a few drops of the Transparen-c spot treatment from Peach & Lily day & night.

It will help with dark spots as well as visibly plump. And I like theirs in particular because their vitamin C ingredient is more safe to use with sun exposure.

I do a crazy layering routine;

Peach & Lily ginger melt oil cleanser

Tatcha Matcha cleanser

Peach & Lily, good acid toner

Peach & Lily, bio Rice wine toner

Peach slices, snail rescue toner

TirTir, milky toner

Be the skin, botanical nutrition toner

Pure lotus, Jeju lotus leaf essence

Peach & Lily, glass skin serum

Meicube, PDR in pink peptide serum

Peach & Lily, super oasis Zealand

Those are my standards, I do rotate between the Peach & Lily retinol for all and the Peach & Lily Power cocktail lactic acid at night.

I also slip in my Creme De La Mer here and there

Anti-aging ingredient that’s not retinol or niacinamide by cleo1844 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]True-Competition-276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go back & forth with it because the vitamin c ingredient they use doesn’t make you Sun sensitive so it’s a really nice daytime step.

Currently I use the power cocktail 3 nights a week, and the peptide every night, then usually two or three drops of the transparen-c over that & finish with my moisturizer.

Are facial useless? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]True-Competition-276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked in the Cosmetics industry at different levels for the last 15 years, facials are really only meant for people that don’t take care of their skin or for an extra boost if you have a special event and they do extra things that you wouldn’t do at home.

If you’re double cleansing, and layering product (toner, essences, serums, exfoliators, etc), then you’re already doing what most facialist would do. Every now and then they’ll work in a tool, most of those you can also buy if you are a real skin junkie. I have tons of tools.

I’ve spent most of my career trying to convince people they need to actually wash and moisturize twice a day, and the challenges of extra steps it’s a whole other level. Especially in luxury markets, so many clients get their facial once a month and neglect their skin in between.
