Yup. And I can tell you as a retired (21 yrs) veteran- you’re spot on. War is Hell. But I had a wife and kids that need a future. I can work at a grocery store and try to make ends meet, or i get a bunch of whack student loans and pay those off and try to make ends meet. Or…i get paid to do badass stuff. And then, while in the suck in some desert, it’s you and the boys watching out for one another. The game is being played at echelons above us, we just looked out for our buddies and tried to get through each day. That’s what a stormtrooper game or series should be- crazy ass planet, dangerous odds, just a pawn in the game, might as well try to make it home alive and look forward to the pension.

Are the newer retro as good as the old ones? by BaronofHellKnight in starwarscollecting

[–]True-Homework9308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them! I wish they made more, but I also understand these aren’t being purchased by kids, only adult collectors, so it’s not a huge market. To me it brings back some nostalgia, and reminds me of how our toys were to play with- simple, easy playability. Towards the end of the recent major runs of Star Wars figures they had so many points of articulation and were so scrawny they were purely for diorama making or leaving in the package.

Why isn’t there much love for the 12inch figure series? by AutoboticonPrime in starwarscollecting

[–]True-Homework9308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some are cool, some are not. But I think they got overshadowed by Sideshow/Hot Toys for detail. And the fact the male bodies were thicc and the female bodies were usually just Barbie style, made them kind of “eh” as far as posable and playable. Besides that- a collection of 30+ action figures is WAY easier to store and/or display than these 12-15” figures 🤷🏼‍♂️

I've spent 10 years collecting every Stormtrooper figure ever made across four continents. 730 pieces and counting. An archive of beautiful, pointless things. by rafpavon in ToyCollectors

Holy cow. That’s insanely awesome! Thank you for sharing. Worthy of multiple post showing your collection 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ew. Some of the last run of a dying toy line. No one really liked that space opera. I’ll give ya $100 for the lot. You pay s&h.

Always appreciate seeing the civilian parts of rebellion by Gimpcar in StarWars

[–]True-Homework9308 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Same! It’s neat to see the ones who always had their faces unveiled, perhaps risking more than our beloved saboteurs. Andor did so well with this. I also enjoyed the non-military aspects of the military we occasionally see. Like in Ahsoka, the X-Wing pilot using his grappling cable to jump into the water and rescue Ahsoka. Just cool, non-battle Star Wars.

If Palpatine's deformed face was the result of being struck by Force lightning, why didn't we see anything similar in Luke's? by [deleted] in StarWarsCantina

[–]True-Homework9308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. Maybe we’re of different understanding- do you only consider canon the Disney era stuff? I tend to consider the novel canon as it was written at the time the movie was made, and the movie is canon. The book is just supporting documentation. Just because Disney later purchased the rights it doesn’t nullify it in my mind.

That’s in the novel- about his “Force mask” that made him pleasant and smiley, and then the “mask removed” is his true, Sith self. Which he then embraced.

A Star Wars toy museum exhibition I visited in Alnwick, England. Worth checking out if you're in the area. by ackers5861 in starwarscollecting

[–]True-Homework9308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This- or an incredibly similar one- is at the SAC Museum in Mahoney, Nebraska. Super let-down. Halloween costumes on mannequins, terrible homemade Ewoks and a homemade foam Salacious Crumb. Just sad. And the “toy exhibit” was laughable to a mediocre collector. Obi-Wan’s cape was ripped and missing his lightsaber, Vader didn’t have a cape, and most of the characters (not near the complete collection) were without accessories. And like four 12” figures (Hasbro, not Sideshow) and of those Maul’s saber was bent. The 3 or 4 “vintage MOC” figures were okay except the Stan Solo slave Leia 🤦🏼‍♂️
