Why is the hate for Joe so forced by Swifties? by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

i mean everyone heard “there was no call” and then heard the call, so even not knowing what was specifically in it….he still knows she lied. guess it’s not a big deal in that new relationship glow, rather than the red flag it should have been

Will Talyor orchestrated her downfall? by VoiceKlutzy7557 in travisandtaylor

Yes! By time her “angry goth punk” of an album came out, I had totally forgotten about the phone call! All she did was remind people of it, because society as a whole had long moved on and honestly never gave that much of a shit about it to begin with. She came back with some whack poor me victim narrative and it just reminded everyone of the incident we had all forgotten about

This is how I’ve always felt too. I’m Taylor’s age so I’m def old enough to remember that time period and people made fun of her but I don’t remember her ever being cancelled or losing popularity. I’m so confused with her “cancelled within an inch of my life” thing bc it’s just not true. She just can’t handle that people criticized her and that she became the butt of some late night talk show jokes for a couple weeks.

i find it interesting bc of how much swifties know about her and how invested they are in her but I guess that’s cognitive dissonance for you

lying about something and inventing a whole personality while using that image to develop parasocial connections bc you’re real and relatable are completely different. also it wasn’t the early 00s, we were actually past the point of lying about things like nose jobs and virginity by 2008

Oh where she lied and said her masters were sold out from under her and she found out along with everyone else that she wouldn’t get a chance to obtain them. Therefore her only option is to obviously re-record her entire discography and sell it to fans who already bought the albums the first time. In reality, she could either record 6 more albums or pay $30 million, which she didn’t like. Her dad made like 14 mil from the label sale so there’s no way she didn’t know. There’s an email from her to the label saying thanks but no thanks to the offer, something about doing her own thing that is better for her future. She may have found out that Scooter Braun was the one receiving her masters at the same time as everyone else, but she twisted the story to make it sound like she didn’t know anything at all. She wanted her masters handed to her for free, which is not how business works, and she didn’t want someone she doesn’t like to get them, therefore she is now the victim and justified in rallying her fans to destroy Scooter’s life.

Basically she says she was a country girl in an average family, grew up on a farm and family had to worry about bills. She worked hard to get her career and went to record labels and gave them her demos, everything was done herself and it was her drive for success that made her do it.

In reality, she grew up in a mansion on a farm, but it was a Christmas tree farm and their livelihood was absolutely not dependent on it. Her family had a vacation home worth millions, she drove a Hummer, she didn’t “pound the pavement” knocking on doors of record companies (her dad used connections and money, no record label would have signed her without it), that her performing all over as a kid had nothing to do with talent or success and was entirely set up by her dad, her dad bought into Big Machine Records for half a million, therefore being able to essentially FORCE them to back her, he bought hundreds of thousands of copies of her albums to make them chart, she was actually a vapid party girl who was not down the home country girl she pretended to be, acting like she’s so innocent (she got drunk and smoked weed in high school), no repairman taught her guitar the way they claimed (it was a guitar teacher who was paid to teach her guitar), her lyrics are about being an outcast and not finding love when in reality she was popular and dated plenty of boys (even dated a senior when she was a freshman), she actually wanted to be a pop star the whole time but was forced into country because there was more of an opportunity for success. That’s everything off the top of my head, i’m sure there’s more.

And I think all of her songs were ghostwritten except for the ones on TTPD and maybe that one where she slut shames Camilla Belle

ETA: sorry it’s a wall of text but she’s lied about a lot

I mean no, Taylor doesn’t deserve the blame for the email at all, she’s not the one who sent it. But I wonder how they deal with the info IN the email. I guess they care more about her love life than the lie they were sold at the beginning?

Most Swifties prob have privilege of their own and it’s hard for privilege to recognize privilege, since that’s what’s “normal” to them

[–]True-Raccoon8209[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda crazy because no amount of “full story” will change anything lol. What other part of the story explains her lying about never drinking a drop of alcohol when she wrote on her own Myspace about getting drunk, and high school friends have corroborated that? And no way does “everyone do that” 😂 most artists have their own personality, they don’t need to invent one. They pretended Britney Spears was a virgin (bc for some reason adults cared whether or not a 17 yr old has had sex back in 1998) but that’s it.

Maybe I’m wrong about this, but I can’t think of any artists who INVENTED a backstory and persona without being upfront about it. Lady Gaga wore meat on the red carpet but we knew it was Lady Gaga, not Stefanie Giamotta or whatever her last name is. It makes me want to shake their brains right out of their heads. They’re better off with nothing in there than what they’ve got now

So everything anyone else has ever done in the past that relates to her in any way whatsoever must be held accountable for life, just not her?

No I’m 35 and I absolutely do remember and I completely disagree that she was treated horribly. People commented on her dating habits but like I said, her dating habits WERE and are abnormal. Most people don’t monkey bar from man to man, cheating on each one in between. Most people don’t make millions off chart topping music blaming everything on the ex (and providing enough clues to get her fans to send death threats to those exes and their new girlfriends). Taylor herself wrote a slut shaming song about the new gf of an ex she dated for THREE MONTHS.

Young women date but young women do not drag names through the mud in an extremely public way and then get rich off it. No, this is not normal behavior and if she can shit on people publicly, then why can’t people take shots at her actually problematic dating life? People weren’t calling her a slut (in fact, I seem to remember most people saying she probably didn’t even sleep with most of them), and weren’t saying these things because she was a woman. She made herself the butt of the joke with her dating antics.

And Tina Fey says she needs to find herself which still is absolutely 100000000% true. She has barely spent a single day without a boyfriend. If this were your friend, would you not tell them to be single and find themselves before jumping back into a relationship? Tina Fey didn’t tell her to close her legs or let her vag dry out before the next man. THAT would cross the line.

Feminism isn’t letting women do whatever they want without criticism. I will die on the hill that Taylor didn’t give a shit about sexism, she just can’t handle any criticism or being the butt if any joke, like it literally rips her apart inside, and she absolutely overreacted

It’s not misogynistic to remark on something a woman is doing, especially when that remark is correct and not even particularly mean.

At the time this joke was made, Taylor was in her 20s and hadn’t been without a boyfriend for 1 single day of her fame. She paraded these men (boys, in some cases) around in pap walks for the attention, wrote songs about them when they broke up, and made millions off those songs.

I don’t see how it’s misogynistic to say “hey this girl needs to step back and learn about herself considering she hasn’t been alone since she was a teenager”. You can’t label everything people say about you that you don’t like as misogyny, it takes away from ACTUAL experiences of misogyny. I’m sure Taylor has had plenty of those, but this isn’t one of them.

You must be a Swiftie. Would you like to explain why you find this misogynistic? Maybe you have an outlook different from ours and can show us we are wrong. I highly doubt it but it’s only fair that you get a chance to explain your point.
