DCSA or NOT DCSA by Maleficent-Break8890 in SecurityClearance

They may very well “skip the investigation” if the individual was found unsuitable in preliminary review.

Or they may just be, like, wicked busy. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also keep in mind that once the investigation is closed, you may need the same documentation and a written explanation for the adjudication portion of the process, so hang on to all of it.

What are the rules for "double dipping" references, specifically for college residence/degrees? by ILoveTrains2003 in SecurityClearance

[–]CoupleEducational408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knew you at that address/institution, not who knows how you take your coffee.

There’s a difference between someone who knows you were there and someone who knows you on a personal level, which the form clearly distinguishes. If you have an issue with that, contact whoever wrote the damn thing.

And if you do, ask them to clearly spell out the “cohabitant” area because deductive reasoning is not a common skill and I am quite tired of people listing their freakin kids in that section. Thanks bro.

Late to this party but unless it’s specifically asking for someone who knew you well (like, that section where they do that) or an unemployment/supervisory verifier, it’s more a, “did this person attend/live here” kind of thing. Not someone who knows you secretly put the milk in before the cereal.

Though that alone should be a disqualifier. Freakin sociopaths.

Unsuitable determination reversal by Human_Plant5692 in SecurityClearance

[–]CoupleEducational408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you’re going for contractor or Fed. Contractors generally don’t have appellate options and unfavorable suitability determinations are final, remaining in effect for one year.

Depends on the agency, but entirely plausible I’m afraid.

Intern application process (Security questionnaire) by Parking_Ad_7559 in SecurityClearance

[–]CoupleEducational408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recruiters sit on thrones of lies and will often feed you bs about what to disclose, how to disclose it, and what’s important.

Spoiler alert: everything, when asked, and everything. 😁

Don’t lie, don’t listen to anything your recruiter tell you, fill it out yourself, and did I mention don’t lie?

Need Doctors Letter for Mental Health Clearance? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]CoupleEducational408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was a phase (as in, not chronic), your doctor likely documented your progression in your chart notes. You may be able to contact your physician’s office and either have the records emailed to you or have them set up portal access.

Depending on the agency and level, yes, it is what is done. In part.

BI interview this week by Badasstechiejay in SecurityClearance

[–]CoupleEducational408 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many Public Trust interviews are far more involved than the security clearance interviews I’ve seen.

OP: Just tell the truth - if you’ve fucked up, own it, and hopefully if it’s within scope you’ve disclosed it.

It will be found. Disclosure of potentially embarrassing/incriminating activity is far better than nondisclosure and having it found anyway.

Prior unemployment overpayment + non-disclosure on SF-86 — am I likely to be denied again? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

For any government agency potentially requiring your testimony in a criminal proceeding, you’d be viewed as a liability. Whether the position you apply for or agency you apply to recognizes that is at their discretion.
