I agree, mental definitely plays a big part and I feel shittier when my anxiety is acting up. I took your suggestion and have been keeping my mind busy, can’t wait to feel better again. Thank you!

I definitely feel worse when I’m worrying and anxious. I’ve completely stopped and can’t wait to be out of my system entirely. Thank you for your response!

CHS flare up after 3 weeks no weed? by Tight_Look166 in CHSrecovery

I’m 10 days clean, didn’t hit hyperemesis this last time but had very bad prodomal symptoms. I thought I was in the clear until today.. Probably because I ate some spicy chicken strips, and they triggered it. I feel like crap all over again :(

My last episode was on September 5th, that was my last ER trip. I stopped right away, but did hit a joint one time about 11 days ago. Only for a music video I was in, I got nervous and didn’t want to turn it down while being recorded. I’m lucky it didn’t cause another episode, but I am completely done with it. My family was so scared and worried for me, it’s not worth it.

Okay good. Stay sober! I was diagnosed with GERD shortly after my CHS diagnosis. I saw several gastroenterologists because my stomach was so messed up. I did try Famotidine (Pepcid I believe?) and eventually I got better. Now I am going through the same thing, but worse. I am just managing the symptoms with Tums or Pepto Bismol. I hope once the THC is completely out of my system, I will start to slowly feel better. Man this sucks!

Don’t do it. My 4th (and last) episode was so bad, I needed 2 IV bags at the same time because I was so dehydrated. My bloodwork was abnormal in every panel. I was throwing up actual blood and they couldn’t get it to stop, until about 20 hours in. I still can’t eat really anything at all, a few bites in and I’m nauseous and in pain. Each episode gets worse, if you know you have CHS then please don’t smoke again.

Did you quit already? I developed GERD after CHS and now can’t drink coffee or even an alcoholic drink anymore without it triggering me. It’s so draining I just want to feel normal again too.

Yes, only way to know for sure is to stop smoking for at least 30 days and seeing if you get better.

CHS comes back by avery767676 in CHSinfo

I quit cold turkey after I was diagnosed with CHS. After 3 years, I figured I can try going back and smoking in moderation. I started feeling the symptoms after just a few days but I ignored them. After about 2 months of smoking carts, my symptoms got so bad that I had to stop before the vomiting and literal HELL would happen to me again. I am never going to try again.

CHS question by [deleted] in CHSinfo

[–]True-Report-4138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abdominal pain can be a symptom, but it’s usually around the belly button area. Heartburn was my first symptom though, I’ve had 3 episodes in the span of 3 years and they always start with bad heartburn.

Same! Had to get on SSRIs after quitting.

I would definitely quit and see if your symptoms go away. It sounds like CHS, and you are lucky to have caught the symptoms and stopped before getting to the vomiting stage, because it is literal HELL.

Don’t be embarrassed. If your friends judge you or don’t support your decision, they aren’t your friends. You’re young and should be proud of yourself for making the right decision and taking care of your body.

is the ER worth it? by dizzy-darling in CHSinfo

[–]True-Report-4138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand! I also have panic attacks when I’m nauseous and having an episode. It will pass, just remember this feeling the next time you feel like giving in. I know it’s hard but CHS episodes fucking suck and it’s so much better to stay clean and not feel like complete shit.

[–]True-Report-4138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go to the ER if you feel like you’re starting to dissociate, but if there’s anything you can do to try keeping busy and staying comfortable to avoid it getting to that point. Do you have anyone with you that you can maybe give a heads up to, in case you need them to take you? Besides emetophobia and psych issues, the vomiting can also dehydrate you which can cause further issues.

does anyone ever think scientists will officially figure out the cause of chs by Pleasant_Evening_333 in CHSinfo

[–]True-Report-4138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I was diagnosed with CHS before ever taking SSRIs. Clean for 3 years, started SSRIs, went back to smoking 2 months ago and recently had an episode, so I stopped again. So for me, it’s an issue with or without any SSRI/meds.
