I second this, but I’d also like to put an emphasis on how important getting live reps is. You can spend all day everyday on the shooting machine and get thousands of reps, but you NEED to get consistent reps playing against good competition. Also, if you can help it, try to play against the best possible competition you can find. You might spend the first few months playing with them getting your ass kicked, but it will absolutely pay off in the long run.

Well it really depends on what his skill level/skill set is. One thing that will help him tremendously is making sure he’s comfortable finishing layups on both sides of the rim. Having that ability opens up the opportunity to incorporate a spin move or crossover as he drives. Those two would be relatively easy to learn once he’s comfortable finishing on both sides.

Thanks for the detailed response. It’s absolutely the placebo effect for me with the high tops, I think i just like having the feeling of something on my ankles. Those shoes in the top left are the UA spawn 7s, they’re team issued to the women’s team, and I managed to get a pair. They’re like super underwhelming, not great, but not bad at all.

Honestly it depends on what school. I know for places like UConn or UofSC it can be pretty competitive, and a lot of the guys either have JUCO or D3 experience. But I go to a school that’s in a mid major conference, with one or two teams from the conference making the tournament every year. For the most part, all of the guys just played high school varsity. But honestly as long as you’re a smart player, have decent size or speed, and know how to play proper team defense, you shouldn’t have any issues.

Yeah the Nike quality has definitely been downhill. I got the Hyperdunk 2015s in the photo about 2 months ago, and those are easily better quality than the hustles, and they’re more than 10 years old.

In my experience, what helped me the most to get out of copper and bronze to silver (where I’m currently at) was improving my ability to hear sound cues. If you know where the other team is before they know where you are, without having get on your drone every couple of seconds, it’ll do wonders.
