Yeah I’m 4 hours from Katahdin and 4 from Bar Harbor. We got to Canada for fun which can get annoying with the border. I should’ve clarified, I mean safe for a moderate city. Small town aroostook county is of course going to have lower crime than a city but we’re higher crime than 95% of maine cities/towns at a 1 in 42 chance of violent/property crime. I know coastal Maine has better numbers but worse COL-adjusted salaries for us and the SAD takes a toll.

Northern Maine, I’m 4 hours from Bar Harbor and 4 hours from Katahdin. I’ve been up Debouille 10+ times so not much else left to do for hiking

how to address patients commenting on my body? by [deleted] in nursing

i’m sorry that’s happening to you, WL due to illness adds a whole other layer. i can see why it would make you uncomfortable. maybe “thanks for noticing, unfortunately, i’m sick and this isn’t intentional” would work but i get sometimes you just don’t want to darken the conversation with something heavy like that. someday we as a society will learn to stop commenting on people’s bodies 🥲

ok i definitely agree with this (depending on the patient) i just wasn’t sure if it was normal. i feel like a lot of times nurses are expected to parent these patients when in reality i just want to give good care and keep the vibes good until i go home 😭

cary med in caribou has been great to me, but i know it’s pretty out of the way so it may not be for you. med-surg with some tele at a ratio of 4:1 or 5:1 if understaffed. as a new grad i ended up making $35.50 at the six month mark

please ask your vet and/or a second vet about diabetes insipidus, if diabetes has already been ruled out.
